A leading cannabis producer found itself in a breach of contract dispute with an energy advisor over the savings from its transition to an “interruptible rate” for its electricity. This arrangement allows utilities to cut power delivery during periods of peak demand in return for a substantial reduction in energy costs for the customer. As a massive energy consumer that depends heavily on reliable power, the financial impact of the contract was significant.
