Expert is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with a subspecialty in the Division of reproductive endocrinology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his MD in 1978 from Rush Medical College and completed his internship and resident training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1982 at George Washington University Hospital. He also completed additional fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in 1985 at UCLA Medical Center.
Due to his extensive experience in the field, Expert is an established expert in reproductive endocrinology and women's health. Focusing on times of hormonal challenge during the women's lifecycle, he has worked with the government, pharmaceutical industry, and equipment manufacturers to develop new guidelines, therapies and and analytic methods for implementation during these hormonally challenging times (puberty/secondary sexual development, fertility/infertility, menstrual regulation/contraception, menopause: its symptoms and treatments; osteoporosis and aging, etc.). His work has resulted in multiple new drug applications. Additional expertise in regulatory affairs and new drug development, along with an astute appreciation of the marketplace rounds out his expertise. He also has one patent and two U.S. trademarks in the field of women’s health and reproduction. A true "triple threat", Expert has extensive experience in bench research, clinical research and development, and clinical practice.
BIRTH CONTROL / SEX HORMONES (estradiol, estrogen, androgen, hormone replacement therapy, progesterone, progestational hormone, steroid hormone, testosterone, corpus luteum hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone): Expert is familiar with several aspects of various birth control methods and sex hormones including the physiological effects of estradiol replacement, gonadotropin levels, the effects of drugs on ovulation, analyzing estradiol positive feedback, in vitro and vivo ovulation stimulation and characteristics, gonadotropin releasing hormone and its importance in pharmacodynamics, the effect of estrogen status as stimulated by calcium metabolism, estradiol absorption vs. transdermal estradiol delivery system, and several other sex hormone related topics.
FERTILITY / INFERTILITY: He has experience with treating infertile women, biologic and morphologic development of donated human ova using non-surgical uterine lavage, using vaginal rings and cylinders for physicologic endometrial priming, analyzing the endometrium in functionally agonadal women receiving various treatment, abnormal pregnancy, luteal phase and ovulation induction - the effects on pregnancy rates, infectious complications during insemination, and several other methods and techniques. He is also familiar with the current controversies, debates and discussions in the field of infertility and fertility. He is experienced with common (and uncommon) complications and problems that can occur in the practice.
GYNECOLOGY (menstrual cycle, menopause): He is familiar with the effects of various drugs and hormones associated with ovarian hyperstimulation and the menstrual cycle. He is also familiar with several uncommon gynecologic problems, new techniques and protocols and is up-to-date with the latest research and scientific findings in gynecology as well as in his other areas of expertise.
