Prior to starting his consulting company in 2016, Expert worked at Water Standard for five years as Senior Vice President. In that role, he was directly involved in global business development and management of teams in remote locations. He served as Vice President with Veolia Water Technologies for six years, where he led the development and execution of multiple projects in the industrial and municipal markets. Prior to Veolia acquiring Weir Techna, Expert was Weir Techna’s regional Vice President for the Americas where, under his direction, Expert's team contracted and constructed multiple water treatment projects for offshore oil and gas facilities.
His experience also includes 19 years at MECO, 10 of which he was in the Middle East where he was responsible for providing support to over 250 desalination installations. It was while Expert was at MECO that he developed and executed some of the first successful membrane desalination plants in the Middle East. There he also led international business development, developing industrial, projects and was responsible for developing MECO’s marine business which included expanding their capabilities into the offshore oil & gas market and to providing services to the US Navy.
He formed his company in 2016 with the express purpose of providing the best all-inclusive solutions to the water industry, utilizing his years of experience and his extensive contacts. Most recently, Expert is expanding his company into the wind turbine business, where he expects his executive role experience will be an asset to developing a successful business in the Americas.
Technology and Product Development:
– Technical advisor on a project in Oman where produced water will be used for agricultural purposes.
– Commercial advisor and direct report to the CEO. Has developed a unique polymeric UF membrane that has many of the same attributes as a ceramic membrane at a significantly lower price. In Q3 2017, rebuilt the entire sales team and tripled sales within a 6-month period.
– Commercial and technical advisor to assist in expanding their presence into the large-scale desalination business. Additionally, worked with company to expand its presence into the retrofit business.
– Advising company on using their ceramic membranes for the seawater desalination market.
– Technical and Commercial advisor to the CEO and assisting in developing relationships with system integrators to use their back-washable NF membranes.
– Led the company's commercial and technical team in testing and commercializing company membranes around the world and served as the point of contact.
– Led the company's commercial and technical team in testing and commercializing ZDD’s technology. Was the point of contact to and interacted with ZDD and UTEP management.
– Developed new product lines based on using other company’s units through a private label relationship.
– Developed a new RO product line that was built in Mexico and sold throughout the Americas.
– Was the point of contact for company while at Weir Techna. Was licensed by Swenson for their thermal process business in S. Africa and Australia. This included evaporators, brine concentrators and crystallizers.
Project Highlights:
- Undisclosed (ongoing) – Contracted to manage and supervise the startup and commissioning of a 36,000 m3/D (9.5 MGD) seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant and an anaerobic, aerobic and MBR waste water treatment facility at a polymer facility. Includes providing staff to train and supervise the client’s operators and O&M staff.
- Desalination Benchmarking Project, US (ongoing) – Led a group of advisors of a desalination benchmarking study.
- Large Scale Desalination Plant – Worked as an advisor to the O&M review team for a 681,000 m3/D (180 MGD) seawater reverse osmosis unit.
- Undisclosed (ongoing) – Was selected to be the technical and commercial advisor to a local group of developers to build a 95,000 m3/Day (25 MGD) seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant. The first phase of the project, shortlisting four (4) project teams, was completed in 2017.
- Led the technical development and sale of the 25,500 m3/D (6.7 MGD) seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant while working for Veolia. Participated in the project execution phase as a technical advisor and provided peer review.
- Led the technical development and sale of the design package for a 50,000 m3/D (13.2 MGD) seawater reverse osmosis desalination for an offshore vessel. Participated in the project execution phase as a technical advisor and provided peer review.
- Led the technical development and sale of three (3) seawater nano-filtration systems, combined capacity of 143,000 m3/D (37.8 MGD), for offshore platforms (combined value of over $75M). Participated in the project execution phase by participating in peer review.
- US Navy – participated in the design team on replacing the existing thermal desalination systems with a seawater reverse osmosis system for the new aircraft carrier, CVNX, program.
- Led the technical development and sale of one of the first successful seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants in the Arabia Gulf. The system was rated at 1,900 m3/D (500KGD). Project managed the execution phase of the project and then managed the operations and maintenance of the system.
- Led the technical development and sale of the first successful seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Qatar. The system was rated at 1,350 m3/D (350KGD). Project managed the execution phase of the project and then managed the operations and maintenance of the system.
- Led the technical development and sale of a 4,000 m3/D (1 MGD) seawater (open intake) reverse osmosis desalination plant and participated in the project execution phase as a technical advisor and provided peer review.

- South America – led the technical development and sale of multiple packaged desalination plants, both thermal and reverse osmosis, throughout South America, including mining facilities in Chile and Peru.
- US – led the team on being awarded the Coquina Coast, FL study project, the Rosarita, Mexico study, the Long Beach, CA study and the Orange County, CA study.
- Mexico – led the technical development and sale of a thermal desalination plant for their mining facility in Mexico.
