Uses of Polymers, plastics, silver and other metals. EPA regulatory processes
ID: 713518
Florida, USA
Expert experience with polymeric materials possessing special optical and electrical properties dates back over twenty years. Among his accomplishments are photoconductive formulations for reprographics and formulations with sensitivities to selected portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. He has accumulated extensive knowledge on the applications of conductive and antistatic materials, and on fiber optics.
As a market research professional for over twenty-five years, expert has developed extensive databases on the uses of almost all commercially significant plastics. The technical and economic advantages and disadvantages of each have been extensively researched. Knowledge of new product offerings is continually brought up to date. He also has experience troubleshooting plastics processing problems.
In addition to the knowledge he has accumulated on the commercial uses of plastics, he has developed an extensive database on the technical and economic aspects of various proposed solutions to the problems of disposal of solid wastes. Papers on these issues are given on a regular basis at the meetings of professional societies.
Much of expert's recent work has been concerned with the economic analysis of setting up a plastics material recycling infrastructure at the municipal level. His conclusions have been adopted by the American Chemical Society in its public outreach literature. He is also knowledgeable of markets for recycled plastics.
New food packaging methods and constructions have been a focus of his consulting practice for ten years. The major goals of his research have been obtaining improved shelf life through the development of special barrier constructions and developing new and better processing and sealing methods in packaging. He has done much work in the commercialization of dual (microwave and convection) oven packaging constructions.
Expert gained expertise in this area while preparing a published market study on hydrophilic and water-soluble polymers. His practical experience includes the use of such products and competitive materials, such as inorganic gel formers to develop products like cementitious adhesives with designed rheology and curing properties.
He has knowledge of the uses and economics and processing of engineering plastics. His expertise was developed in determining which plastics would best fit customer requirements for medical and electronic uses.
He has been a market research consultant for chemicals and plastics companies for over twenty-five years, and has on occasion presented papers on his research at meetings of the Society of Plastics Engineers and American Chemical Society.
For the last ten years, he has been a senior technology consultant to the Silver Institute and has developed markets, administered research programs and developed strategies for the registration of antimicrobial silver as a pesticide with the Environmental Protection Agency. He has also worked on projects with other metals and their compounds especially zinc, and copper. He also teaches environmental science focusing on environmental resources and pollution.
He has also been active in wood protection research and have developed expertise in the use of silver for such a purpose. Expert also worked with polymeric materials to improve the engineering performance and water resistance of creosote treated railway ties.
He has checked plastics and chemical processing procedures to help solve problems or diagnose product failures. He develops analytical and test methods for implementation by client quality control. Expert works with marketing and commercial development personnel to develop product introduction strategies. He has developed strategies and has interfaced with trade association personnel to counter unwarranted and overzealous proposed regulation of chemicals by the EPA
