Expert has applied his engineering upbringing in avionics and design engineering to practical solutions through his flying of Jaguar and Tornado aircraft in the RAF. He retired to research and man machine integration at Farnborough where he played a key role in applying practical experience to a research environment. His management of international projects in workload and fatigue enabled him to become a specialist in human factors and ergonomics within the cockpit environment. His knowledge of visual systems and in particular helmet-mounted displays enabled him to play a key role in a joint UK/US technology demonstration programme. Expert left the research environment for behavioural based safety in a US company called BST. His communication skills with the workforce are second to none and he has a unique ability to get to the real issues in a working environment. Expert has worked as a Senior Human Factors specialist in human factors engineering, human error and human performance. Expert works with many Blue chip companies integrating human factors principles into management systems and safety management systems and process safety. He is a chartered safety professional and was a chair of the IOSH offshore group. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and a member of the governing council.




He has just completed a Control Room Assessment for Scottish and Southern Energy at Peterhead Power stationHe is part way through a human factors GAP analysis at Coryton Refinery.He is actively integrating Human Factors into Nexen Process Safety Management system.He made an ergonomics assessment of the drillers "Doghouse" on the BP Bruce platform and his recommendations were acted upon.
