Expert's firm was founded in 1997, previously the Vice President of Engineering Services for the ABC Television Network. He spent over 30 years at ABC-TV, pioneering the development of new equipment and strategies in virtually every area of the Broadcasting Operations and Engineering division. At ABC, Expert served as director of technical operations for ABC's coverage of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In this capacity he was responsible for the design and implementation of all broadcast and engineering operations. He worked in the same capacity for ABC's broadcast of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. He was awarded two Emmys for his achievements.
Expert has clients from broadcast and cable, manufacturers and research companies. Among his clients have been: ABC-TV, Nielsen Media Research, the Advanced Television Technology Center, Speer Communications, Gemstar International, New York Times Television the Discovery Channel and SES Americom, as well as legal firms and government agencies.
Expert has served on the FCC Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Services, the Board of the Advanced Television Test Center, the technology advisory board of the Museum of Television and Radio, committees of the SMPTE and on the Executive Committee and Technology Committees of the ATSC. He has worked on hardware and software projects ranging from developing character generators to designing digital broadcast plants. Most recently he has worked on issues of satellite delivery of Internet Protocol Television, planning and design of satellite uplink broadcast centers and development and implementation of mobile television standards, He recently has worked in the area of providing expert testimony on valuation of cable systems and personnel safety in television production.
Project Manger for design and implementation of a 300-channel satellite downlink/uplink facility for IPTV. Project was taken from concept to on-air in less than one year, with another year increasing the channels provided and moving to multichannel HDTV carriage.Represented a major consumer product manufacturer at regular standards committee meetings of the CEA and ATSC for over 5 years during the transition to digital television transmission.
