Telecommunications Wireline Interference and Electrical Protection Problems

COMMON MODE CHOKES. Expert has been involved in the design, manufacturing and application of this device since 1978. He has used it to solve telecommunication and data line noise and equipment susceptibility problems.
ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE; ELECTROMAGNETIC NOISE; ELECTROMAGNETIC PROTECTION. Expert has been involved in the early studies and documentation of EMI. He has solved problems and trained personnel in the EMI field, working to mitigate interference with telephone and data communication signal transmissions, equipment damage and personnel safety hazards.
TELECOMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT ELECTRICAL PROTECTION. Expert has studied, documented and trained personnel in the use of devices to protect telecommunication and data equipment against the harmful effects of EMI and lightning. His work has led to the development of induction neutralizing transformers, harmonic suppression reactors, longitudinal noise chokes and telecommunication radio frequency interference (RFI) filters.
LIGHTNING PROTECTION. Expert is an expert in the various techniques, including the use of arresters, used to prevent lightning damage to telecommunication and data lines.
ALTERNATING CURRENT LINE HARMONICS. Since 1972, Expert has specialized in understanding and solving the problems of power line harmonics, particularly at those frequencies in the telephone voice band that cause noise (300-3000 Hz) and at lower frequencies that cause power utility, telecommunication and data line protection problems.
HUM. Expert has worked on measuring and solving the problems of 60 Hz induction into telephone lines since 1972.
LOCAL AREA NETWORKING. Expert has been involved in LANs since the early 1990s. He has particular expertise in protecting LANs from lightning or induced power surges and in enhancing their operating performance, reliability and extending their reach.

In the spring of 2002, he was asked to develop and teach two new graduate courses in the new Masters in Network Communications program offered by the College of Technology. One course was on Advanced Wireless Networks (ELET 6302) and the other was on Project Management in Communications (ELET 6314). In the fall of 2002, he developed and taught a course on Network Management (ELET 6312).
He published a book in 2019 on computer networking breakthroughs.
