Expert has research and marketing experience in the use of bleach for household laundry, hard surface cleaning, detergents, and other applications. She has studied new peroxygen bleaching compounds, particularly bleach activators and peroxyacids currently being developed for fabric and hard surface cleaning. She has been involved with the market development of bleaching products for commercialization by the major consumer product companies.

Expert has research and industrial experience with household cleaning products. The emphasis of her work has been to study the use of surfactants, bleaches, and builders and the effect of their interactions on a product's performance and stability. She has authored several publications in this area and has recently in multiple publications.

Over the course of her career, Expert has concentrated on applied and fundamental surface chemistry. Topics of particular interest include detergency, emulsification, wetting, rheology of suspensions, liquid crystals, microemulsions, interfacial tension studies, and phase behavior (including phase transitions). Expert has authored several technical publications in this area.

Expert has conducted research on the phase behavior of commercially-available and pure anionic and nonionic surfactants and their ability to form liquid crystals and microemulsions in the presence of either water, oil, salt, or alcohol. The effects of these additives on phase behavior, rheology, and interfacial tensions have been studied and discussed in several of her presentations and publications.


Expert has conducted research on the use of surfactants for recovering oil through the formation of liquid crystalline and microemulsion phases. These were studied using phase behavior, optical microscopy, viscosity, and interfacial tension analyses.
