Expert worked for Air Products and Chemicals for over 32 years. During that tenure He managed the construction and operation of the Hometown Specialty Gas plant as the Operations Manager.. This plant is one of the largest production units for the production of gaseous Fluorine in the U.S. . This plant electrolyzed HF to produce Fluorine that was then used to also make other products such as Sulfur Hexafluoride, Cylinder Fluorine, 20% Fluorine/Nitrogen mixtures, Nitrogen Trifluoride CF4, ClF3, and others.
The plant also produced High Pressure Gas mixtures for calibration purposes. In addition Expert managed six Field Specialty Gas plants focused on regional supply iof mixtures to the regional markets as well as four high pressure Helium plants- bringing in liquid Helium and compressing thatr into cylinders, tube trailers or dewars.
He consulted with a major electronics firm and the Gas company ( not Air Products) - to determine the unusual fire invoving a Nitrogen Trifluoride cylinder He provided expert testimony in regard to the explosion of cylinders involving HCl and HF with specific emphasis on clean-up techniquesHe has designed, estimated plants for the production of Anhydros Hydrogen Chloride both from the burning of Chlorine and Hydrogen as well as the production from Muriatric acid using the azeotrope.He has designed trailers and ISO units for the supply of NF3,HCl, Silane, Nitrous Oxide.
