(30,000 cards, 1200 card readers, 200 autonomous control units with constantly updated database and dual IP addresses, multiple data entry servers, central dual redundant servers with further remote redundancy servers; servers running NT).
• International Satellite Communications Organisation; Risk Assessment, Systems Philosophy and Strategy, Systems Design, Control Room design, Drawings and Specifications for integrated security management system; access control, CCTV, intruder detection and door/gate control system. Client’s Engineer for installation. (Contract period: over 2 years)
Advised on manned guarding procedures and recruitment.
• Film Studios and town centre CCTV monitoring; Risk Assessment with recommendations and specifications for manned guarding and physical and electronic security countermeasures. Tender documentation for manned guarding and CCTV system. Client’s Engineer for CCTV implementation.
• Bank of England site; The commission included an in-depth audit of the existing on-site security. This was followed up with a full report with comments and recommendations for updating the site security, re-location of the main control room and feasibility and design considerations for integrating the various security functions.
• West European Central Bank; Security consultancy for all aspects of security of a new central bank building from start to completion. Advice on security staff job descriptions. Client’s Engineer for Implementations. Included strategy, risk assessment and risk management, architectural advice, job descriptions of security personnel, full integration of procedures and systems into two operational control rooms, access control, CCTV, vaults, security management system, IT security, high security door and gate control, radio, intercoms, fire, bullion vehicle, doors, windows and much more. Full documentation was produced by GHA; tender instructions, contract conditions based on FIDIC, specifications, trunking and conduit drawings, security and fire drawings. (Contract period over 4 years; security items value approximately £1.5m GBP)
Note: The design and integration of systems was acknowledged as very complex. This was essential to ensure simple, accurate and effective performance by guards, especially in high stress situations. It is GHA's policy to design systems primarily for effective and efficient operation by an agreed quality of guard or operator at critical times, not just to address the threat and technical requirements.
• Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals, NHS: Review of hospital security. Production of scoping document to enable development of a new strategy around a centralised control room for security and key hospital facilities and a new security management system. Systems included Access Control, CCTV, personal attack and intruder systems.
• Open University; Review of 3 sites (approximately 50 Buildings). Production of pre-qualification document for notice on Official Journal of the European Communities.

• Oil in Asia; Audit of approximately 20 sites and feasibility report for nation-wide access control/security management systems. Project development of multi-site proximity smart card/ CCTV networked access control/integrated system.
Design and specification of a large security management system and control room operations including fully networked and integrated access control, CCTV, intruder, perimeter intruder detection (PIDS) and communication systems. Covers approximately 100 sites/buildings.
Audit of approximately 50 sites and buildings covering oil field operations and 600km pipeline. Feasibility report for security management system including networked CCTV and access control across all sites.
• Oil in Africa; Risk assessment for administration and oil process facilities/ storage sites. Development of multi-site proximity/smart card networked access control/integrated system.• High Street Bank in UK; Audit of bank's central networks and production of comprehensive procedures with drawings for business recovery purposes to be used in the event of a major network hardware failure or computer centre disaster. Host computers utilising the networks included; IBM 3090s (mainframes), IBM 3475s, DEC VAXs, Tandem, and Unisys A11. External communications nation-wide included; X25, TDM on megastream and kilostream links (Fibre optic, microwave and cable), ISDN, and a multitude of modem links on analogue direct line and PSTN circuits. Also, disaster recovery procedures were also written for the recovery centres for two major bank divisions.
