As an active leader in his profession, Expert was recently elected to serve on the CREIA State Board of Directors 2008-2010. He is also a member of the State Examination Committee, Chairman of (California) DRE Programs & Presentations, and Chairman of the State Public Relations Committee. He has served in all local chapter leadership positions and was President of the Los Angeles – West Chapter 2000-2001.
He was previously Secretary of the CAL-ASHI Chapter.
Expert is an educational speaker and published author on home inspection issues, and has developed and presented formal seminars, led “roundtable” discussions, and written articles for home inspectors, real estate agents/brokers, and consumers alike, most often for professional continuing education credits. Topics have included; Risk Management, Consumer Affairs, Practices & Procedures, Standards of Practice, and Legislative Affairs.
In general, each pre-purchase property inspection Expert performs is a consultation to benefit the client do their due diligence by helping them understand the physical condition of a property; its building, structure and mechanical systems.
Maintenance inspections protect a property owner's investment. Expert recently helped a client understand that the value and quality of construction received was fair, reasonable, and in line with the amount paid. He also discovered and was able to determine that the general contractor's license was suspended, and had received numerous complaints. Expert inspected and consulted on a faulty flooring installation. His written report helped the client with their warranty claim through the manufacturer against the installer. Expert consulted with a homeowners association in regard to the improper installion of manufactured wood siding in relation to adjacent hardscaping. This resulted in repairs/corrections and guidelines for future modifications. Expert consulted with a condominium buyer and an owner (HOA President) regarding exterior damage caused by moisture intrusion from the balconies. This was a persistent problem that was being resolved one, or only a few, units at a time
