Expert has worked with and consulted with clients such as USPS, UPS, JB Hunt, Heinz, etc to provide strategic supply chain solutions and cost savings by such means as inter-modal and efficient vendor selection. His long tenure leading teams that worked with all major truckers, railroads and retailers have developed supply chain strategies and inter-modal distribution networks that are a key foundation for today's current transcontinental premium trains.
Expert's unique career has allowed him to not only work directly within the trucking industry but also to work with the industry as a senior rail official. He has over the years become an expert on TL, LTL and parcel motor carriers and brings value in all supply chain mode assessments.
Worked with JB Hunt to develop a transcon intermodal network for domestic containers. Project involved combining rail and truck schedules, rail terminal and new train designs and to develop a seamless truck rail product that would meet over the road schedules and customer service needs. The project succeeded in the first $1 billion dollar 10 year contract in rail history. Worked with Sunkist and Expresstrak to set up national produce distribution network from Port of LA to 14 points in the US. Developed rail to truck terminals and used high speed refrigerated boxcars to move produce on high speed passenger trains. Result was better than over the road reefer service at intermodal price savings. Worked with the US Postal service to set up nationwide mail and periodical distribution and delivery network on passenger trains. Developed the service on roadrailers and sorted and delivered mail to 26 locations throughout the US. Network was so successful, Amtrak was the only railroad to handle first class mail. Also service was successfully marketed to RR Donnelly, Quadgraphics and UPS air. Worked with Jafza Intl to develop a rail relationship and strategy to develop shuttle service from Port of Charleston to Free trade zone in Santee, NC . Facilitated all rail and commercial meetings and agendas. Worked with GE and Rail Van to set up door to door intermodal program to mange and reduce vendor distribution and provide tools to ID intermodal shipments and provide routings, saving GE millions in trucking costs. Results were we won Vendor of the Year award from GE.
