Expert qualified as a chartered quantity surveyor in 1983 and was elevated to a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) in 1990. In 2008 Expert was elected as a Practising Associate of The Academy of Experts.

Expert spent nine years working as a quantity surveyor for medium and large construction companies in the UK and after practising on own account as a professional quantity surveyor for three years, he formed Expert Raven Limited in 1986 and is now managing director. Expert Raven Limited is a professional firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors with offices in Northampton in the Midlands, and Kendal and Windermere in the North West of the UK.

Expert has extensive experience in the provision of traditional quantity surveying services to the contracting and professional sides of the construction industry and continues to personally provide, the full spectrum of quantity surveying services to a wide range of private and business clients.

Expert is committed to remaining a practising professional and has developed skills and knowledge from a solid foundation of nearly 40 years experience in the construction industry.

Expert is experienced in the areas of construction quantum, cost, and contract with particular experience in procurement, construction contracts, pre-contract documentation, contractor’s estimating, post-contract documentation and management, preparation of final accounts and construction claims.

Expert has acted as quantiity surveyor on projects up to a value of £10,000,000 and has experience of commercial, industrial, retail, domestic and educational projects.

Expert has acted as party appointed expert on quantity surveying issues for claimants and defendants on a number of disputes. Oral evidence given in court, arbitration, adjudication and mediation proceedings.

Expert undertakes regular training as a quantity surveyor and as an expert witness and he maintains a record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with best practice and the requirements of the RICS.

Expert acts as counsellor and supervisor for candidates training for RICS qualification under the Expert Raven Ltd structured training scheme.

Expert is currently acting for a school defending arbitration proceedings brought by a contractor. The dispute is concerned with final account time and cost issues . The dispute was about the level of extra charges from the builder on a barn conversion. The dispute was settled before exchange of reports.
