Request Expert

Expert is President of a prestigious management company and is an active manager and investor in investment real estate.

He initially worked for this management company in maintenance positions while in high school and college. He subsequently rejoined the company as a property manager and Vice President in 1978. He was later appointed President of the company by its owners in 1980.

He purchased a 50% interest in 1981 and then purchased the remaining shares in 1983. He did this to enable him to merge the company with the then Columbus, Ohio based Rallie Company. The two companies combined to become Barrington Group Incorporated a national third party management firm now located in Sarasota, Florida. During the merger, Expert specialized in the management of multi-family and commercial buildings for a small group of investor clients and the management of recently converted condominium buildings.

Expert's activities expanded to include not only property and asset management, mortgage banking, investment, property disposition, appraisal, and consulting. Expert was a principal and Vice President from the time of the merger until its’ dissolution in 1988 and his duties were to oversee the property management divisions of both companies. The combined companies had offices in eight states and 14 Cities across the country.

Since 1978, Expert has operated his management company which manages apartments, office buildings, condominium and homeowner associations, Court ordered Receiverships and various other types of properties. In 2011, he merged the operations of the three management companies in 2013 to manage receivership and other Court appointed properties. Together, the three companies operate over 135 associations, multi-family rental and commercial properties in Northeast Ohio.

In 1981 Expert earned the Institute of Real Estate Management's Certified Property Manager designation and at that time was the youngest person to have ever done so. He has also held the designation of Certified Apartment Property Supervisor, given by the National Apartment Association, of which he was also one of the first designates nationally. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Ohio and graduated from the Ohio University with a Bachelors of Science in Communications.

In 1988 he served his second term as President of the Northeast Ohio Apartment Association (now Northern Ohio) and became a Life Trustee and has served on its Board of Directors since 1979 and as still serves as an officer and Executive Committee member and is again President of that association for a two year term recently. In 1988, he also served as the President of the Northern Ohio Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management. He serves as a delegate to the National Apartment Association and has done so since 2017.

He has received IREM's award as Manager of the Year and was named Member of the Year four times by the Northeast Ohio Apartment Association. He served as Chair of the political action committee for the statewide APARTPAC for four years.

Expert was President of the Ohio Apartment Association in 1991 and then again in 2012 and served as Delegate to the National Apartment Association in 1989 and again in 2017.

For five years, beginning in 1984, Expert served as an advisor to the Gold Coast Condominium Coalition, representing condominium communities in Northeastern Ohio.

He served, starting in 1988, by appointment of the area director of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, on the Board of the Community Housing Relations Board. By appointment of the Governor of Ohio, in 1989 he served on the State Housing Task Force. After appointment by the Speaker of the Ohio House to represent the interests of the property management and ownership community, he was elected as Chairman of the Select Commission on Fire Suppression Systems. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and has spoken on topics including risk management, management operations and the effect of drugs and gangs on multi-family properties.

Expert's experience has been relied on by the Courts where he has provided testimony in property management related trials and he has been appointed as receiver for distressed or financially troubled properties.

For over 40 years he has had the honor of having his name appear in "Who's Who" publications recognizing leaders in both business and real estate.
