He has developed a sound knowledge of the characterization of polymers during these long range research efforts.
Expert has applied this polymer knowledge to the development of polyolefin films including metallocene-produced cast and blown films. At the same time, he setup an analytical lab to analyze polymers, films and film surfaces. He established relationships with resin suppliers, analytical companies, and many customers in joint developments. He has convinced resin companies to change additive packages. He has done collaborative research with additive and resin suppliers in solving discoloration issues for customers. He has developed applications in films in food packaging, medical films, breathable films, health and hygiene, packaging, and surface protection. He developed a portfolio of new polyolefin films for product applications which grew to new sales of over 11 million pounds. He also provided technical support for all film customers. He has been classified as an internal consultant for technology, manufacturing, and sales groups for analyses, problem solving, additive concerns, polymer structures and unknown film analyses which had major influence on business and technical decisions. He has been recognized as a pathfinder for new applications for metallocene-produced polyolefins which led to to the company president's award for "Excellence in Technology and Innovation".
Expert has broadened his chemical knowledge to tackle solid waste issues for the plastic industry including research and development in the field of biodegradable, photodegradable, and recycled plastics. He has been a member of the technical committee of the American Chemical Council grappling with these major issues for the plastics industry. He has presented over forty papers to customers, suppliers, and plastic end users on solid waste issues, especially as they relate to plastics.
He is currently consulting in the areas of surface contamination, polymer selection, additive levels with discoloration, and rubber roll chemistry for the same company Expert has consulted for a company which provides oil cleanup remedies in detection of chemicals at low levels. Expert has consulted for a compnay to develop a tough laminate for industrial appication including developing new film and extrusin coating blend for lamination to nonwoven. Expert is currently an expert witness in a lawsuit between two major resin suppliers.
