MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL OF SURFACE TENSION. Expert has had significant experience in the application of on-line measurement of surface tension to industrial processes. He is the co-inventor of the bubble surface tensiometer, which is now commercially available. Related expertise includes relation of surface tension to more fundamental process properties (surfactant concentration, etc.), closed-loop control of surface tension, and control of particle nucleation in emulsion polymerization.
CONTROL OF POLYMERIZATION REACTORS. Expert has been heavily involved in the control of polymerization factors, and has just completed a book on the subject. Of particular interest are sensors for polymer properties, estimation and control of polymer properties, troubleshooting and the effect of inhibitors, and nonlinear control.
CONTROL OF CHEMICAL PROCESSES. A good deal of his industrial and academic experience has been in the area of chemical process control. Expert has particular expertise in the area of sensor selection, estimation of unmeasured variables, time delay compensation, decoupling, inferential control, internal model control, model predictive control, and nonlinear control. Related expertise includes the control of polymerization reactors.
Consultant, at one time or the other, to most of the major US polymer producers.
