Qualifications in brief: Industrial experience in Emulsion Polymerization and solution polymerizations: Product & applications development, scale-up, and customer service; Organic synthesis & Scale-up; Taught senior level polymer chemistry and organic chemistry courses; Ph.D. in Organic chemistry.

• Organic and polymer synthesis: Worked on the synthesis of a wide spectrum of organic compounds; devised multi-step synthesis for cost-effective routes in scale-up. Types of compounds worked on: nucleosides, steroids, lipids, heterocyclics, dyes, chiral compounds, organometallics, labeled compounds, drug delivery intermediates, chemical & biochemical reagents, Diels-Alder adducts, specialty monomers. Worked on devising multi-step syntheses and ultimately large scale production of ultra-pure Investigational new drugs and anti-cancer agents requiring GMP. Devised polymer synthesis for electro-conductive polymers; polyurethanes, polyesters, polyamides — requiring ionic, free-radical and RAFT polymerization techniques. Addition polymerizations, condensation polymerizations, and other mechanistic variations were adopted. Industrial scale development of solution polymerization process.

• Emulsion polymerization: Developed from bench to plant, commercial grades of Polychloroprene (Baypren, neoprene) latexes, rubbers, and adhesives. Provided customer technical service for water-based adhesives, gloves, and foam, coating and construction applications. Responsibilities included quality assurance of the latex product line, production recipes, storage protocol, lab supervision, and experiment designs. Implemented production recipe modifications in the plant amounting to 20-25% savings: in terms of raw material cost, operational logistics, and consistent quality – bringing down customer complaints. Supervised lab personnel for polymerization and application methods. Worked with engineers and plant production supervisors for scale-up methods. ISO 9002, FDA, EPA, TOSCA, regulatory affairs interaction. Participated in ASTM, ACS & ASC national committees, seminar chairs and papers presented.

• Technical marketing: Succeeded in increasing the market share significantly of Baypren latex in North America through intensive customer interaction for product promotion and new application development, production cost analysis, logistics, and marketing feasibility coordination. Domestic and international traveling.

• Consulting: Was retained as a consultant (2000-2008) for latex application by Polymer latex, Inc (the subsidiary of Bayer Corp.)
