Expert's career in the oil and gas industry spans over 30 years. He has applied this experience in academic, engineering and management positions with entities such as Arco Alaska and Nabors Drilling.

Expert spent his time at Arco as a drilling engineer; he then worked several years as an on-site drilling supervisor. Within a year of joining Nabors as on-site drilling supervisor, Expert became Vice President of the Turnkey Drilling Division of Nabors (based in Houston). During this time Expert cultivated strong experience drilling difficult HPHT wells along the Gulf Coast, including many wells drilled deeper than 19,000 feet. In 2002 he left Nabors and joined his current firm as VP of Operations. There, Expert was responsible for well design of extreme HPHT Deep Bossier, HPHT Knowles Horizontal, and Marcellus and Eagleford resource wells. His responsibilities also included drilling, completion and stimulation operations management; gas gathering; and gas sales.

Expert currently holds a faculty position at the university level. He has earned a Ph. D in Petroleum Engineering. Expert is a 25-year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, serving as a Distinguished Lecturer in 1995-96.
