Responsibilities:Having worn many vice president hats (VP of Technical Service/Research & Development/Nutrition & RegulatoryAffairs/Innovation), I been involved in every aspect of manufacturing; Lead all regulatory aspects concerning ingredients, manufacturing, and labeling of pet food. Switched all Menu facilities to be SRM-free (2000). Established outside analytical verification program for both raw materials and finished products (2001). Directed organic certification of product/manufacturing under the National Organic Program of the USDA. Established biocide program for Hydrostatic retort cooling water; monitored corrosion program for same (1993). Created Menu’s initial HACCP program (1994) and was on the steering committee for continuous improvement. Established the Toronto’s “chunk” program; traveled abroad to evaluate equipment. Later installed and commissioned the equipment in the Toronto facility (1995). Works with plant maintenance to create first PM (preventative maintenance) program (1995). Lead AAFCO feeding studies for ALL LIFE STAGE claim for both dog and cat products (1995). Participated as team member in the design of the Emporia “green field” plant to determine equipment flow layout followed by commissioning (1997). Introduced least cost formulation programming (1998). Pouch process/product development (2004). Technical lead for 2007/2010 recalls. Technical adviser to all Simmons Sales group and direct to customer base.
