Paper Coating Rheology, Coating Processes, and Coater Operation
ID: 108430
Ohio, USA
MEASUREMENT. Expert has over 18 years
experience on viscosity and viscosity measurements of
pigmented coatings and their interpretation related to
high-speed coating operations. He has been
instrumental in the design and data analysis of high-
shear viscometers (bob + cup, capillary) and
interpretation of viscoelasticity.
FINE AND SPECIALTY CHEMICALS. Expert has
experience in application of waterbased emulsions for
coating applications.
DISPERSION COATING; PAPER COATING. Expert has
extensive experience with blade and roll coater
runnability for paper webs. He has worked with paper
companies and coater manufacturers in blade coater
defects and coater designs. He developed
formulations for pilot-plant trials for paper coatings and
print quality evaluations.
WATER-BASED COATING MATERIAL. Expert has
experience developing formulation strategies for
runnability and print quality, including European
formulations.
RHEOLOGY; LIQUID RHEOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT.
Expert is familiar with interpretation of rheology, including
viscoelasticity and high shear rheology in correlation
with high-speed coating applications.
PAPER; PAPERMAKING. Expert is knowledgeable of all
the aspects of papermaking with particular emphasis
on wet-end chemistry, paper physics, paper coating,
and offset/gravure printing.
BLADE; BLADE COATING PROCESS.
Expert also has knowledge of blade coater operations,
defects, solutions, rheology and coater design issues.
