Expert has more than 25 years of experience in the general area of telecommunication networks. Specifically, the expert has signficant research and development experience working at both academia and industry. Currently, he is a Professor conducting research in the areas of next generation networks, IP networks architecture, quality of service issues in 4G networks among others. He worked at AT&T labs, Telcordia research labs, and has consulted with US Sprint and Nortel networks, WinLabs in Italy among others. He received several research grants from agencies like NSF among others. AT AT&T he participated in the design of AT&T IP network architecture, quality of service architecture among other project. AT Telcordia Labs he was a consultant to Telcordia's customers such as NEC and other telecomunications equipment vendors and carriers advising them on adopting new tecnologies and their value-added analysis especially in the areas of IP optical network design, quality of service architecture design, metropolitan area networks, MPLS and GMPLS control plane as well as network management software including Operation Support Systems (OSS) products produced by Telcordia. He consulted with US Sprint and Nortel Networks advising them on value-added analysis of adopting GMPLS control plane to enable new services using new IP optical networks platforms. He received multiple research grants to evaluate and deploy new IP optical networks technologies. His consulting work including producing analytical studies, techno-economical studies comparing various types of technologies and recommending optimal ones as well as means to migrating current technologies platforms into newer ones. He also consulted with WinLabs in Bologna Italy and other customers on the methods and mechnisms to deliver TV video in wireless networks as well as means to enable quality of service methods in wireless and IP networks. His research encompasses all of the above areas and he has graduated 10 PH.D. students and many M.Sc. students as well as publishing more than 100 journal and conference papers in the above-mentioned areas. He is a well known researcher in the scientific community and has been a chairman of several conferences, symposia and technical sessions in international scientific conferences.
