Expert has authored a copyrighted SCRN Exam Review Course, which includes a 2-day workshop designed to assist candidates for stroke certification in preparing for the SCRN® Exam. Multiple speakers present topics covering the eight domains of stroke nursing as described by the ABNN. Expert is primary author of a poster presentation regarding certified stroke unit patient placement. Expert designed an entire course outline for a stroke workshop. In this role, she presented lecture material on stroke epidemiology, literature, neuroanatomy, neuroimaging and nursing considerations. She led a simulation lab scenario as well. Expert conducted a case study of stroke as a complication of H1N1 infection. She has given a poster presentation on optimizing data quality for primary stroke centers. She has also designed and presented multiple lectures for nurses on stroke, neuromuscular disease, central nervous system infections, and related topics. |

1. Assisted hospital (at which Expert was employed) with review of case to defend against suit brought against them by a patient, who stated he was not getting the correct care and left AMA. That night he had a huge stroke. Showed that hospital followed standard of care and was not at fault in patient’s outcome. 2. For the plaintiff, reviewed documentation for a case of a stroke patient that fell and suffered a lethal intracranial bleed. Found a single physician order in the hundreds of pages of the medical chart that won the case for the plaintiff. 3. For the plaintiff, reviewed documentation of medical record, which showed that the patient was incorrectly treated, leading to a large, life-altering stroke. Patient spent the rest of his life in a nursing facility. Case won for the plaintiff. 4. In a labor dispute, reviewed charts for the plaintiff who was a Nurse Practitioner. Proved that her decision-making was correct and therefore she could not be terminated on the grounds of poor medical decisions. |
