Request Expert

Expert has over 15 years of hands-on experience in the development, implementation, and integration of data, digital, and voice systems.

Expert developed a system equipped to handle imaging, voice response, LAN, 3270, T1, and video conferencing transmission.

Expert developed a systems equipped to handle ACD, PBX, ANI, IVR, and document image retrieval.

Expert introduced a system that can interconnect Token Ring and Ethernet LAN with ISDN and T1, as well as Internet/TCP-IP and SNA traffic.

A significant portion of Expert's activities has involved the design, development, implementation, and administration of end-user enterprise-wide networks. These include multimedia networks involving data, voice, imaging video, and audio networks.

Expert is knowledgeable of using wiring information technology to manage risk and easily access capital, contacts, partners, technology, advisors, mentors, S&S talent, and business know-how. He uses multimedia desktop conferencing to wire to advisors, startup managers, and business partners. Multimedia desktop conferencing involves using one or all of the following: video, phone, program sharing, white boarding, real-time risk management software, and collaborative document creation.

Expert has been involved in the design, development, implementation, and administration of multi-platform computer networks including mainframes (3090s), minis (DEC, AS-400, Unix-type), and PC-based computers using PC-DOS, Windows, Netware NOS, XENIX, and QNX. Expert has extensive experience in multi-area networks including WANs (T1, microwave, fiber loops), MANs (campus environment, metropolitan fiber loop), and LANs (ArcNet, Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, and fiber backbones). He migrated a 200-node Token Ring LAN to a 400-node Fast Ethernet LAN. The LAN transport is over FDDI bridges to level 5 UTP 16 meg TR-PC terminals. Expert has designed, developed, and implemented integrated network systems including using the LAN to do distributed data processing with a mainframe (3090) acting as the database server. This involved PC dealing into the LAN and transferring files. The LAN processed the files and sent them to an IMS-based 3090 mainframe.

Expert has considerable experience in creating and implementing an evolving integrated voice and data network. This involves elements of IVR, ACDs on the voice processing side, combined with data processing of IVR fields and capture of ANI or caller ID data.

As a consultant for Ken-Quest Ltd., Expert sets up regional cybercommerce centers to help small, new companies find the resources needed to develop their ventures into global, high-tech businesses. These new ventures can also use the cybercommerce center to commercialize R&D technology/innovation; develop new ventures; find joint partners/strategic alliances; develop new products; find new businesses; or get direct access to venture financing. The cybercommerce center also enables these ventures to conduct electronic commerce (e-commerce) using the Internet. Another service the center can offer is interactive video-conferencing suites and Internet connect desktop videoconferencing. New venture managers can use the system that best fits their budget.

He has designed and developed an evolving voice processing system for a call center operation. This includes E-911, interactive voice response, automatic call distribution, predictive dealing combined with auto-display of 3270-transaction screens, automatic number identification, voice mail, and call accounting.

For firms building an e-business, Expert will review internal business processes and business-to-business communications. Then he creates process workflow and communications models that can be used for (1) boardroom presentations to build a business case for the e-business project and (2) as guidelines or a map to get all internal and potential chain partners on the same page. To aid firms in reducing the risk and impact of moving to e-commerce, Expert helps develop a strategic deployment plan. The plan in model form ranks the various elements and applications according success ratio, impact on ROI, time to implement, and end user impact. Using the plan as a guide, project management can stage quick successes and high ROI impact deployment to hold executives’ and end users' attention and gain their support.

For firms building a supply chain, Expert analyzes internal business processes and business-to-business supply chain communications. Then he creates process workflow and communications models that can be used: 1) for boardroom presentations to build a business case for the supply chain project and 2) as guidelines or a map to get all internal and supply chain partners on the same page. Expert using experience in setting up call centers and doing business process engineering, helps firms deploying a supply chain develop a call center/help desk-like unit. (He notes that a supply chain support center needs to be staffed by end users who know operations. An example might be that the shop floor ordered some subassemblies, the order apparently went through but for some reason it never reached the supplier. Someone at the support center then needs to manually find out and correct the error.)

Expert's work in call center operations includes an 800 station SL1 NT PBX, with ACD, ANI, call accounting, predictive dialing, voice mail, auto attendant, IVR tied into a FDDI premises distribution system with fiber optics on the users and level 5 UTP horizontal wiring.

Expert designed, developed, implemented, and administrated a network that has 500 3270 terminals (using 3270 and 3770 SDLC) connections to a 3090 mainframe 200 miles away. The 12 remote 3174s are served by a T1 link. The premises distribution system uses Fibronics multi-hubs to service both the 3770 terminal and about 300 token ring nodes.

He has ten years experience with integrating all levels of communication hardware and software from mainframe (3270, 3770, 3780) to mini (DecNet and TCP/IP) to PCs (Asych, Synch) and modems.

Expert has six years experience in setting up and integrating DDP systems and networks. He has worked with a nation-wide office transaction network using IBM-SNA/SDLC protocols and a and nation-wide sales office transaction network using Prime minis-X,25 protocol over leased digital lines.

He has worked with AT&T, Rolm, and NT PBXs.

For EDS, he acted as a project level Telecom Specialist on a contract to computerize and network U.S. Army recruiting stations nationwide. The project office was at Fort Sheridan.MidCon, a gasline operator of a pipeline that ran from Texas to Wisconsin, had a microwave network that was used to both send data and monitor pumping stations on the pipeline. At MidCon, Expert worked with the Network Services Director to develop a strategy to update the microwave network. As an example of Expert's technical capabilities, he engineered a system that includes:
a connection to Illinois Bell Telephone fiber loop;
a connection to a data T1 supporting 20 mainframe remote controllers;
dual level 5 UTP high-speed data connections to each desktop;
dual level 3 UTP low-speed data/voice connections to each desktop;
fiber optic backbone to five telecom closets from a central data distribution site;
Fibronics FDDI bridges to a 250 node Token Ring network;
Fibronics 3270 distribution network to a 640 node 3270 CRT network;
a predictive dialing group divided between two floors;
2-IVR groups, voice mail, 800 station SL1, modem pooling, 4-ACD groups, isolated grounds in each workstation and office, and total cable management of data and voice. Expert introduced a method of putting together a limited feasibility company to serve as the organization vehicle in a joint venture technology transfer.
