ID: 718662
Georgia, USA
understands the physical and biocidal approaches to microbial control, public health, tuberculosis, aspergillosis, and other medical microbiology issues.
INFECTION CONTROL; NOSOCOMIAL (HOSPITAL-ACQUIRED) DISEASE. Expert has experience in the identification of sites of contamination with microbes, and the remediation measures to be taken for the alleviation and elimination of these hazards and foulings. He is especially involved in personal care products, nebulizers, humidifiers, hospital environments, packaging rooms, sterile rooms, foods, food products, cosmetics, reagents, chemicals, biochemicals, ocular and periocular products, including mascaras, eye shadows, contact lenses, and contact lens solutions (i.e. cleaners and disinfectants).
BACTERIAL ENDOTOXIN; EXOTOXIN; GRAM NEGATIVE BACTERIA; FUNGI. Expert has worked on the quantitation of microbes and their products, including the enumeration and characteristics of specific microbes and their products.
PRODUCT AND SITE DEVELOPMENT FOR MICROBIOLOGY AND MICROBIAL CONTROL. Expert is able to assist in the design and development of particular products and reagents with antimicrobial activity, as well as the design, redesign, or remediation of manufacturing and production sites.
WATER, LIQUID, AND AIR MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION. Expert has expertise in the area of gram-negative fermenting and non-fermenting bacilli, spore forming bacteria, and their identification, control, and removal.
EXPERT WITNESS FOR LITIGATION in the above areas.
Expert studied and evaluated self-disinfecting carpets and personal care products for such activities.
He identified and evaluated Limulus amebocyte tests against actual microbial contamination in hospital and industrial environments. He published a paper on nebulizers and humidifiers.
He evaluated microbial mascaras and eye shadows for microbial contamination in display and non-display formats. He performed challenge studies to evaluate the effectiveness of the inhibitor system.
Expert has studied nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus and enterotoxins produced by these strains.
He has evaluated air in hospitals and manufacturing facilities.
He has studied respiratory nosocomial infections in hospitals. He has competence to study and evaluate sources and avenues of infections of other types.
Expert developed tests for the detection of diphtheria toxin, published in 1998.
He can evaluate food products for mold and bacterial contamination.
Expert can evaluate various types of hospital equipment for microbial contamination.
Expert can evaluate and assist in remediation procedures to improve sanitation and hygiene in a hospital laundry facility.
Expert has served as an expert witness for infectious disease situations related to industry, hospitals, physicians and other medical personnel. He has clarified and defined microbiological mysteries and dilemmas in legal venues. He has evaluated medical and industrial records to contribute an expert opinion as to innocence or culpability in terms of claims. Organisms involved fise in legal cases have been: Enterobacter sazasaki, Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella pneumoniae and others. He developed an improved inhibitor system for a personal care/health system that has been marketed for over a decade.Expert identified and helped remediate a bacterial contamination problem in a wash system to prevent end product contamination. He identified problem microbes and an improved inhibitor/self-disinfecting system for a commercial product.Within a period of one month Expert helped pinpoint and solve a fungal contamination problem that was causing massive financial loss of 1 million dollars a day in a large manufacturing facility.
