Engineering Design issue pertaining to the failure of Seat Belt buckles in a child safety seat. This involved examination of failed part, review of design criteria and drawings, testing of buckle on child safety seat, analytical methods to ascertain the design feasibility of the buckle and suggestion of proper design. Analysis of design of step ladder. This involved inspection of failed ladder component, testing of similar ladders to ascertain ultimate strength, analytical study of forces involved in design and conclusion of design feasibility.Analysis of a burst engine oil filter. This involved examination of failed oil filter. Testing of several filters with full pressure to examine mode of failure and make a conclusion as to the cause of failure. Use of Crash Data Retrieval tools to download information from complying vehicles in event of crash. GM and certain Ford vehicles have an event data recorder that records vehicle paramaters in the event of a "wake up" of the airbag system. This information may include vehicle speed, throttle position, brake position and Delta-V, to name a few. This information can be downloaded to aid in the accident reconstruction process.
