PHYSICAL SEPARATION PROCESSES. Expert has a great deal of expertise in size screening, having evaluated shaking screens, vibratory screens, sonic sifters, air classifiers, and screening equipment employing air flow material conveyance. He has developed continuous processes that combine size reduction and physical separation.
PARTICLE SIZE MEASUREMENT; PARTICLE CHARACTERIZATION. Expert has extensive experience in particle measurement and characterization by both optical and scanning electron microscopy. He has determined particle size distributions of powders by image analysis, sieve analysis, light scattering, electrical conductivity, nitrogen absorption, and sedimentation particle size analysis techniques.
DENTAL MATERIALS; CERAMIC DENTAL MATERIAL. Expert has developed dental amalgam alloys, alloys for fixed dental prostheses, and porcelains for porcelain-fused-to-metal prostheses. He is primarily concerned with mechanical properties such as hardness, and transverse rupture strength of dental materials. He has recently developed glass compositions for low-fusing dental procelains and has expanded his knowledge of biocompatible ceramics.
FOOD, DRUG, AND SANITATION CODES. Expert is very knowledgeable of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations regarding medical device manufacture, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and good laboratory practices (GLP). He has written numerous protocols, raw material specifications, process specifications, and finished product specifications for the development and manufacture of dental and orthodontic materials and devices.
MATERIALS STANDARDS. Expert has expertise in testing mechanical, physical, and optical properties of materials in accordance with ASTM and ANSI standards. He has written many standard test methods specific to dental devices and dental device manufacturing. Expert is a member and active participant in ASTM Committee C-14 on Glass and Glass Products and ASTM Committee E-29 on Particle Size Measurement. He is the current chairperson of Subcommittee C14.02 on Chemical Properties and Analysis.
COLLOIDAL SUSPENSION. Expert has recently been working with colloidal suspensions and particle dispersions. He has a good working knowledge of the stability of silica sols, and factors affecting gel formation. He has experience in sol-gel processing of silica and is knowledgeable of sol-gel ceramic and coating processing.
OPTICAL FIBERS; GLASS BATCH FORMULATION. Expert has significant knowledge of optical fiber manufacturing techniques. He has developed glass formulation for fiber optic imaging arrays, prepared graded-index optical fibers, and holds key patents on processes that are used in the manufacture of optical wave guides.
