Expert has been very successful with assisting clients with finding RD funding within both state and federal agency's. Expert has headed up many proposal teams for successful proposals in the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR), California Energy Commission(CEC), National Renewable Energy Lab(NREL),Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD)Tank Automotive Command (TACOM)and others.
Expert has conducted reliability studies and developed maintenance programs for variety of heavy duty trucks powered by natural gas (CNG and LNG) Some of the vehicles were dual fuel (diesel & natural gas)powered development programs.
Expert has worked with clients by identifying appropriates test equipment including dynos from 2hp to 600hp. He also has advised on the establishing proper test protocols and maintenance for the equipment
Expert has developed or has been the leader in developing specific maintenance procedures for a wide variety of mechanical and electronic control systems for sea, land, hover craft equipment. Expert headed up a team that developed and video taped a blade change out procedure for an LM2500 marine gas turbine engine. Expert's supervised and developed calibration procedures for the Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC)propulsion and electric power generation program. Expert has investigated equipment failures that were the result of improper maintenance and or operations and developed "get well" operations maintenance programs based on trend analysis.
Expert has developed what seems to be a unique approach to understanding equipment failures. The process includes forensic analysis of all of the evidence, operation, manufacturers documentation, recall history. When one studies failure you must start simple and go complex. You must use all available resources required as is cost effective to determine the root cause. Once the cause is understood determine how to effectively work around the failure and prevent recurrence.
Expert is investigating the catastrophic failure of a DDC 12V92 marine main propulsion engine. The engine was repaired/overhauled and suffered a broken connecting rod and severe damage to the crankshaft due to improper repair of the crankshaft. Expert is investigating a gear train failure in 60 Series Detroit Diesel engine powering a Metro Transit bus. The engine failed shortly after a major overhaul due to an engine gear train timing issue. Expert is currently investigating the effects of gasoline being introduced into diesel fuel tanks and subsequently causing damage to several heavy duty diesel engines. Expert has been retained by a defendant repair company in an alleged Carbon Monoxide poisoning of the owner/driver of the over the road tractor. The claim includes failure to properly reinstall the engine exhaust system after the engine was removed for overhaul. Expert has been retained to investigate excessive failures in six International heavy-duty trucks located in the Sacramento area. Failures include engine, electronic and emission control systems, causing the fleet owner to suffer business losses due to the non-availability of the trucks.
