Responsibilities:Founded and developed the company into the leading consulting firm in machine vision. Select components for machine vision applications including cameras, light sources, lenses, filters, windows, prisms, mirrors, frame grabbers, computers, and software packages. Design illumination systems for machine vision applications including lamps and LEDs, reflectors, retroreflectors, and lenses. Software engineering for machine vision including programming smart cameras, developing custom.machine vision applications in C/C++, and coding image processing primitives in assembly language. Develop machine vision systems for applications including high-precision metrology, defect detection, high-speed sorting, OCR, robot guidance, stereo imaging, autofocus, interferometry, color imaging, finding location and orientation, and assembly verification. Developed and conducted over 200 public and in-plant courses for engineering and sales staffs Performed market studies for several companies including startups, major corporations, and an industry trade association. Developed a complete machine vision software package for training and application work. Included convolution, correlation, morphology, image transforms, connectivity, region growing, coordinate extraction, data fitting, and neural networks. Programmed in C and assembly language to run under Windows. - Evaluated operations and developed a strategic plan for the use of machine vision in assembly operations of a major automobile manufacturer. Developed the software application in C for high precision optical measurement that included the ability to perform unique data fitting to a complex model to make precision optical measurements on features significantly below the wavelength of light. The software included image acquisition, image processing, motion control, user interface, recipe storage, and automatic retrieval, motion control, and networking. Led the development of a high-volume food sorting machine for grading based on size and shape. Revised the design 13 years later to replace obsolete components and improve the sorter’s performance. Led the development of a high-volume food sorting machine for sorting out products based on stains. Transferred the technology from the USDA to a production-ready into a production-ready system. Led the development of the new generation camera including market research, product specification, mechanical and electronic design, and out-sourcing of subassemblies. |
