Lithographic Printing, Color Proofing and DNA Isolation and Purification
Request Expert
Expert has worked in the graphic arts area of the Eastman Kodak Research Labs for 15 years. He is the primary inventor of the Approval laser dye transfer color proofing system. This system is still being sold today. He has also developed and patented several laser and inkjet imaged lithographic printing plates. After retiring from Kodak, Expert worked at a start-up company, Integrated Nano-technologies, where he developed and patented an efficient method of collecting, sizing and purifying DNA from living organisms. Expert has 130 US patents (two still pending). He is serving as an expert witness in a patent litigation suit. Expert is fluent in patent terminology and understands how claims are constructed.
For Dotworks (Recognition Systems, Inc.) On a consulting visit to solve a coating streak problem for the Tango inkjet imaged printing plate, Expert found that the smoothness of the lithoplate had a major impact on the openness of small reverse type. A patent application based on this finding has been filed and is pending. For Jetplate (a Florida Corporation). The Jetplate corporation was having a problem of erratic inkjet printing on its inkjet imaged printing plates. This was believed to be caused by nozzle plugging. Examination revealed the actual cause was long term storage of the inkjet fluid in plastic containers, which preferentially imbibed the hydrophobic surfactant in the fluid, causing the erratic printing results. For Mars Corporation. He developed a method of printing high contrast images on M&M candies using the technique of laser toner fusion, with a scanned infrared laser diode beam.
