Expert has consulted with numerous organizations over the past two years to evaluate and assess their quality systems documentation. He can evaluate the current statutes of a company's quality documentation and make recommendations on current conditions as well as recommend changes to assure that a company's documentation is consistent with the requirements of ISO 9000.
Having completed the educational requirements and successfully passed the test for Lead Auditor, Expert can provide guidance on which of the three ISO 9000 standards apply to a given company. He can help in the selection process for finding an appropriate registrar and support in preparing the appropriate ISO standards. In addition, Expert has been an audit team member on two complete plan audits, providing him hands-on knowledge of registrar audit procedures.
Expert is an industry professional with more than 20 years experience, having worked in areas of quality inspection, engineering, and management. His responsibilities have included developing company policy and procedures for quality control, supplier quality control programs, and just-in-time manufacturing. With his extensive background in quality assurance, Expert has a unique perspective on the implementation of ISO to help define a company's quality system. His combined experience in these areas can provide the insight to help clients express practices and procedures in a format that will conform to ISO 9000 requirements.
Expert has written numerous quality procedures and has documented processes to ISO 9000 requirements. The ISO procedures have included both production and corporate procedures. For example, he has documented the procedures used in sales compensation for a Fortune 500 company. He is often called upon to review procedures for comment and recommendations.
As the author of a book on just-in-time manufacturing, Expert is uniquely qualified on this subject. He has written the training documentation used by one of the Big Three auto manufacturers. He has also consulted on the complete implementation of JIT systems for a major disk drive manufacturer. His JIT course is designed to assist employees (managers and operators) with understanding the basic principles and techniques of converting a push manufacturing line into a pull manufacturing system. The course covers nine principles for improvement, the basics of pull manufacturing, the requirements for operating in a pull production system, and the transition process from push to pull manufacturing.
Well versed in the use and development of kanban systems, Expert can provide insight into the importance of kanban in the operation of any JIT or pull manufacturing system. His knowledge extends to the development of work cells and the interrelation of work cells in kanban systems. He has developed complete manufacturing lines using kanban techniques.
Expert has been a quality professional for more than 20 years with responsibilities in the development of company policy and procedures for quality control and supplier quality control. He has worked internationally with companies to resolve production- and quality-related problems. Close contact with these companies have allowed him personal observations on the differences in manufacturing techniques between Western and Asian manufacturers. Expert has been responsible for quality engineering, implementing design-for-manufacturability, and the design-of-inspection tooling (including the management of supplier tooling) to support production and suppliers. He was certified in 1979 as an ASQC quality engineer and has worked for several years in a variety of inspection positions.
