Mr. V. K. Expert is a highly accomplished and performance driven, steel Industry professional with 38 years experience, at board level and non-board level positions, in various areas such as business strategy and planning, operations and maintenance management, project management, supply chain management, design and engineering and HR etc. He was a member on Board of Directors of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), as Director (Tech). SAIL is India's largest steel producing public sector company, with a annual turnover of about $ 10 bil. One of his responsibilities was implementation of $ 15 bil modernization and expansion programme. Some of the key projects under this programme are; 4000 m3 blast furnaces; 7 m tall coke batteries; sinter plants; steel melt shops with BOF convertors, pre and Secondary steel refining facilities and continuous slab, bloom and near shape casters; new finishing mills such as plate mill, universal Rail mill, medium structural mill, bar and rod mill and cold rolling mill. He has a strong flair for innovations and low cost reliability solutions. Before moving into senior management roles he has had a long experience in Iron ore Sintering; Bulk material handling & processing and Maintenance management. In addition to his regular assignments Expert was a Director on board of a few JV companies; Chairman of a Ferro-Alloy subsidiary; Director in-charge of an alloy-steel, a Stainless steel and a Refractory unit;

o Appraisals of the investment proposals and preparation of agenda for consideration of the board and sub committees.
o Interaction, in India and abroad, with senior officials of leading Indian and global manufacturing, technology, construction, consulting and raw materials supply companies etc. in connection with company’s business and strategic needs
o Preparation of annual and long term business plans; monitoring and analysis of performance against plan objectives and targets. Gap analysis. Action planning related to technology, engineering, Operations and maintenance.
o Organizing and guiding techno-commercial analysis, due diligence and other business processes with respect to various strategic initiatives and alliances; joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
o Establishment and review of policies and guidelines, systems and procedures, with respect to the technology, contract conditions, delegation of power, etc.
o Assistance in obtaining statutory clearances, project execution, dispute resolving. Project progress monitoring including monitoring tools.
o Large group and small group communications: competence mapping and building initiatives. organization restructuring,
