Additionally, he has written and lectured internationally on the areas of how technology impacts our lives and how to manage technology in modern living. He has functioned as a general expert and defense witness to legal counsel. He has been involved in over 25 cases thus far and has written, researched, and lectured internationally on this area for the last 12 years, including one of the earliest books on the topic, and has authored numerous professional articles, papers, and book chapters.

Expert is recognized as one of the world's leading authorities on Internet addiction and Internet Behavior and serves as an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine. Expert personally evaluates and/or treats patients for compulsive Internet use, especially around sexual or pornographic issues. He may review case files and documents and offer his expert opinion relating to computer or Internet behavior/addiction for purposes of assisting in constructing a defense. He frequently consults with patients and counsel on background research and issues relating to computer, Internet, and digital media technology abuse and addiction. He has been helpful in numerous cases in helping achieve a reduction or elimination of sentences (both in treatment cases and also as an expert) as well as ameliorating the stressful effects of the legal process for patients. He has also been helpful in the treatment of a variety of these conditions, as he works primarily as a practicing psychologist with a specialty in general addictions and sex addiction treatment.
