Expert is a board certified internist with over 30 years of experience in primary care and hospital medicine. She has been a hospitalist since 2002. She received her MD degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1980 after receiving her Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering practice from MIT in 1973. After receiving her M.D., she completed her internship in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in 1981 and resident training internal medicine at Baylor in 1983. She also completed additional fellowship training in emergency medicine at Baylor in 2001.

She worked since 1996 at a medical center in TX in tertiary care teaching institutions managing problems of medical, surgical, OB-GYN and psychiatric patients. She has also worked as a staff physician providing inpatient consultation at several medical centers and hospitals in TX.

She is also an accomplished professional writer of articles on medical topics for the general public and is a member of the American Medical Writers Association.


She regularly consults on surgical patients before and after operations to evaluate risks of surgery, and if possible minimize them. She is available for problems after surgery such as blood clots and infections.She admits patients transferred to a tertiary care center, often after days or weeks in another hospital, and have learned to sort through a large and complicated hospital record to summarize the important events and evaluate the care received elsewhere.The patients she takes care of often require intensive-care unit stays; She is comfortable with the needs of these patients and the problems they get there.As a hospitalist she is familiar with the levels of hospital and out-of-hospital care (longterm acute, skilled nursing etc. and the standards of care in those institutions.
