ID: 108400
Texas, USA
Expert is a specialist on writing and editing U.S. and international technical standards, including materials standards and standard test methods. He has worked a wide variety of US and International standards making bodies.
Expert's primary specialization has been in dielectric heat transfer fluids used in power transformers, and in cooling of other electrical equipment. He has specialized in fluids made from synthetic and environmentally safe base oils, as well as fire-resistant insulating fluids (substitutes for PCBs). He regularly consults with clients on issues regarding transformer oil problems.
Member of ASTM for over 25 years, having held leadership positions at Working Group, Subcommittee and Committee levels. Experienced in writing and editing Material Standards and Standard Testing Methods in Electrical Insulating Materials, Tribology, Petroleum products, Plastics, Lubricant Products.
Expert has 15 years' experience in the development, manufacture, testing and sales of automotive and heavy truck engine lubricants. He is very familiar with latest standards in gasoline and diesel automotive lubricants, and additive and base oil trends that allow the manufacture of the latest standards in lubricant technology.
For over 25 years, Expert has worked as a business consultant. He has written business plans for a variety of manufacturing and retail companies around the world. He is experienced in working with sources of corporate funding; banks, and venture capitalists, as well as smaller, alternate sources of funding.
Expert founded and has operated lubricant manufacturing companies in the US and Brazil. He has years of experience in the development and production of synthetic, vegetable-oil based and petroleum based lubricants for industrial applications, including hydraulic oils, compressor oils, gear oils, motor oils and greases.
Expert has developed novel lubricant and insulating oil products from vegetable seed oils, including suflower, safflower, cottonseed, Amazonian tree seeds and canola oil. Expert has developed methods of stabilization of these seed oils against rancidity and oxidation. Expert has served as technical advisor to Brazilian companies that use these seed oils in their cosmetic, lubricant and heat transfer fluid products. He has built manufacturing plants to process vegetable oil seeds into marketable industrial products. He is considered an expert in direct and trans-esterification of vegetable oilseeds, in oxidation inhibition of oilseeds, in rancidity and oxidation testing, in toxicity and environmental effects of using oilseed products.
Expert has over 30 years' experience in specifying, purchasing, testing and developing products made from petroleum base oils. He has worked for refineries in testing and evaluation of base oils, determining that they meet manufacturing and sales specifications. He has owned and managed companies that purchase petroleum-based and synthetic base oils, and developed lubricant and functional fluid products made from petroleum and synthetic base oils. He is highly experienced in evaluation of different petroleum and synthetic base oils used to make different lubricant and petrochemical products.
Expert has specified and used bleaching clays in many of the manufacturing processes that he has managed. He is very familiar with the three ways in which bleaching clays are used, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Expert has developed manufacturing processes in several different countries that utilize bleaching clays. He has researched different types of clays, their activation processes, and their relative strengths. He has used bleaching clays to improve electrical characteristics of oils, to remove color, polar contaminants, odor and other impurities from new and used petroleum oils.
Expert's primary specialization has been in dielectric heat transfer fluids used in electronics cooling. He has specialized in fluids made from synthetic and environmentally safe base oils, as well as fire-resistant insulating fluids (substitutes for PCBs).
Expert was Project Manager for design and construction of a 2000 liter per hour lubricants recycling facility and a lubricants blending and packaging plant. Expert solved the problem of transformer failure due to the action of corrosive sulfur in transformer oil that had resulted electrochemical plating of copper through the transformer oil. This led to the development of new additive products that are used throughout the transformer repair industry today to resolve this source of transformer failures.Expert helped design a heat transfer system and a chose a dielectric fluid for the newest generation of liquid cooled computer data centers.Expert selected mass flow instruments for use in molasses distillation and processing plant. These instruments are now used at many refineries to measure mass flow in difficult applications (>300 C. at high temperatures and aggressive environments)Expert developed highly biodegradable lubricants that allowed the client to meet the world's most stringent set of water environmental quality regulations.
