Expert has had over 30 years of experience in the laboratory environment. Prior to starting his independent consulting practice in 1985, he was employed in industry. He has been actively engaged in the use of computers for the management of laboratory data since 1978 and in the design of information management systems since 1980. His expertise includes needs analysis and LIMS implementation in corporate pharmaceutical, environmental, and chemical laboratories. He has consulted extensively with pharmaceutical, chemical, environmental, research, and contract laboratories. He assists in reassessing each client's laboratory environment and in the selection of the very best information system for the individual needs of that client. The scope of problems that have been solved extend from evaluating and recommending a suitable laboratory information management system to re-engineering of the workplace to provide significant and substantial improvements in the overall operating efficiency. His company helps laboratories "work smarter". Expert is also course director for a week-long LIMS seminar held worldwide.

Expert's consulting firm, is a full-service business and technical research organization providing information that brings results. Their service mark is to "turn information into intelligence."(TM) He and his staff are highly trained marketing and scientific personnel and include Ph.D.s who are experts in their respective fields. Although they perform many of the more generalized search functions, they specialize in high technology issues. Expert and his associates have access to all the specialized databases necessary for doing a comprehensive search. One of Expert's colleagues, a Ph.D. scientist, is based in Washington D.C. for direct access to the Patent and Trademark Office. This enables his group to examine older patents and drawings, "search the shoes," and speak with examiners. Many of Expert's associates are scientists with Ph.D.s in such disciplines as chemistry, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering. In addition to these scientists, he employs marketing experts for survey work and interviewing.

Expert is an expert patent searcher. Some of his unusual techniques have enabled patent attorneys to have the validity of existing patents overturned while in other cases he was able to save clients significant amounts of money in royalties by not only pointing out the possible infringement of existing patents but also by assisting in the redesign of a process to avoid the infringement altogether.

Expert and his coworkers are experts in the search for new technology, evaluation of this new technology for a specific business, and the development of this new technology to strategically adapt into the existing business. They also provide assistance in technology transfer between government laboratories and private industry as well as the formation of strategic alliances between companies for their mutual benefit. The group has first-hand knowledge of the inner working of these arrangements, having negotiated some of these deals for themselves as well as others.

Expert has advised clients in methodologies for employees to perform their work at home using a computer and modem. He has helped corporations set up temporary and permanent home office environments for their employees, assisting in the selection of hardware, software, and furniture and in preparing for the "joys and pitfalls of working from home." He also counsels clients for the mental as well as the physical changes in modifying and adjusting to the new work environment.


Expert has had over 30 years of experience in the chemistry lab. After earning his Ph.D. in chemistry, along with a minor in physics, he spent the next 20 years working in industry. He has been a consulting chemist since 1985 and heads his own consulting firm, having expertise in electrochemistry. His experience includes the electrolytic refining and electrowinning of non-ferrous and precious metals, electroplating, and electroanalytical work. He has developed water and waste treatment processes to meet EPA guidelines and offers waste disposal assistance as part of his consulting business. He is an expert in the use of computers in the laboratory for sample management, information retrieval, data reduction, automated analysis, work processing, and certification assistance. He has developed prototypes of dedicated automatic monitors, chemical and biochemical analysis and testing instrumentation, fiber optic applications for dimension movement and pressure flow, and other proprietary and custom applications. Expert is associated with a number of privately owned independent laboratories, which he uses as resources in his consulting work.


Expert maintains a small laboratory with a group of very talented biomedical engineers. Their expertise is as a contract laboratory for clients in developing working prototypes, from initial concept through animal trials.
