Expert S. Expert, FACP, FAAP, FIDSA, AAHIVS is Clinical Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Employer and Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine in New York and former Global Medical Director and Senior Vice President for Pall Corporation. After graduating as valedictorian of his class at New York Medical College in 1984, and following a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics in 1988, Expert completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in 1990. Joining the faculty of the State University of New York, Stony Brook School of Medicine as Assistant Professor, Expert served as Founding Director of the Pediatric-Maternal HIV Service at Nassau County Medical Center (1990-1992), before returning to Cornell as Director of The Program for the Children with AIDS at The New York Hospital and Principal Investigator of the National Institutes of Health-sponsored Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (1992-1999). Spearheading and collaborating in groundbreaking clinical and research achievements, Expert ascended to the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Medicine at Cornell University Medical College in 1996. In 1999, Expert launched and assumed leadership of the Comprehensive HIV Care and Research Center at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, the Long Island Campus of Employer. His achievements there earned Expert promotion to Professor of Clinical Medicine and Pediatrics at Albert Einstein in 2004.
A board-certified internist, pediatrician, adult and pediatric infectious diseases and HIV medicine specialist, Expert has dedicated much of his career to establishing and leading multi-disciplinary teams in battling HIV and other infectious diseases, and to education and research in prevention, therapeutics, complicating illnesses, and quality of life issues. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and abstracts; mentored countless clinical investigators; lectures widely; and serves as a consultant to numerous local, national, and international organizations on HIV, infectious diseases, and other health care-related issues. Expert joined Pall Corporation, an international leader in filtration, separation, and purification technologies as Global Medical Director and Senior Vice President in 2004, earning an MBA in Health Care Management with Graduate Honors in 2007, championing organizational focus upon preventing health care-associated infections, and promoting broader access to high-quality, cost-effective health care. In recognition of his innumerable pioneering contributions to leadership in patient care, medical education, and research, Expert was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Board of Trustees of the New York Medical College Alumni Association in 2009.
