Expert Details
Industrial, Power and other Water Treatment, Root Cause of Operational Failures, Treatment Design and Optimization
ID: 734490
Texas, USA
Expert is knowledgeable regarding refinery, petrochemical and chemical and utility power generation steam systems and the components of the raw water pretreatment system. He can determine the causes of performance problems in these systems and recommend mechanical and operational changes as needed. Expert can provide review of or new chemical program recommendations which will optimize the operating efficiency and run life of the equipment. System redesign recommendations are also a capability.
It is often the case that a utility system is failing, not because of one factor but the combination of multiple causes: operational control problems, chemistry problems, equipment maintenance problems, water supply variability and maintenance shortfalls. Determining the required fixes, and the best order of the fixes is complex, but because of his extensive experience in the field, the multiple problems and their corrections can be put in the best order and supported by data analysis to provide a sensible path forward to correct the problems.
Expert has handled water treatment and water and steam systems in multiple roles: operations (including operating team supervision and management), chemical control, inspections, failure diagnosis, treatment design, and treatment auditing. He has written operations manuals and treatment control instruction manuals. He has conducted numerous training sessions for operations personnel and chemical supplier technicians and representatives. Expert has been a presenter at the Cooling Technology Institute, including frequent appearances on the "Ask the Expert" panel at the annual meetings.
His primary qualification as a trainer, following the expertise, is the ability to speak to groups with varying levels of knowledge and communicate the material at several levels.
Expert can evaluate existing water/steam system designs, for entire plant water balances from raw water to water water, identifying weakness in equipment maintenance/operation and needed upgrades.
