Expert designed and sold the world's first electric spring applied brake for a man up order picker type fork lift truck for the Company Lewis Shepard, later to become part of NACCO Material Handling Company. He also applied torsional soft couplings for diesel engine drives. He holds 6 patents and has acted a consultant on a Patent for Crown Equipment Corp, which involved a brake that had two coils achieving the selection of three torqule levels. His company produced this type of brake for Crown for 30 years.
Expert also designed an eddy current load brake for exercise equipment and eddy current clutch that was shaft mounted converting a fix speed AC motor into a variable speed drive. He also designed the first electric brake to be used on a golf cart with a first-year production exceeding 60,000 units.
Expert has staffed trade show booths at the National Designed Engineering Show, the IMTS and SAE off highway show.
Expert provided consulting and designed expertise for developing a eddy current brake for a load brake for bicycles.
Expert provided consulting to Altra, who acquired a line of products from GKN (Expert's previous company) during the integration process. Expert provided consulting to Intorq regarding the design of spring set brakes.
