Expert has applied his hydrogelogy and groundwater modeling background to water resources management, site characterization, pollution control, contamination impact analysis, as well as, protection of drinking water resources and groundwater dependent streams, lakes, wetlands, and ecosystems. He has recently developed a new, enabling technology that has substantially reduced the costs of groundwater related investigations. In particular, he has developed a "data-enabled" modeling and visualization system that allows one to zoom in anywhere in Michigan to predict and visualize groundwater flow and contaminant transport. The system is live linked to a massive database containing information on Michigan's streams, lakes, wetlands, water wells, well lithologies, glacial geology, bedrock geology, sites of environmental concern, sensitive natural community and endangered species. The visual modeling system is also linked to a global geographical information system database.
