As an applications engineer, he has consulted with numerous clients to help select and apply hydraulic pumps, motors, actuators, and valves. These include axial and radial piston, gear, and vane units in both fixed and variable displacements. He has also worked extensively with gerotor pumps and motors as well as all type of high torque low speed motors. Due to his extensive applications experience, he has served as a Employer to major manufacturers on application and design of pumps, motors, and other components, pump controls, and complete systems design.
As Chief Engineer and General Manager of the valve division of a major fluid power company, Expert has directed and supervised development of valves and custom valve packages used throughout the mobile hydraulics industry. He directed development of a family of electro-mechanical servo-positioners for use with directional control valves, and hydraulic pumps. Most recently, he has developed and brought to market a line of electro-mechanical flow controls for use in the forestry, mobile, marine, mining, and petroleum exploration and extraction industries.
Expert has applied hydrostatic transmissions in propulsion systems for off-road machinery, processing and manufacturing machinery, conveyor drives, and other equipment. Applications range from small horsepower drives on lawn and garden equipment to large conveyor drives of 1000+ HP. He designed the propulsion system for the people-mover tour trams at Universal Studios, Universal City, CA.
Expert has selected and applied hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and actuators for use in applications ranging from machine tools to physical therapy and hospital equipment to off-road machines. His experience includes material selection, construction, and seal designs.
Expert has participated in design of hydraulic systems involving pumps, motors, directional and pressure controls for both off- and on-road machinery as well as for industrial and marine applications. Duties have included component selection as well as design of custom cylinders, valves and specialty components.
