High Volume Metal Stampings and Progressive Die Troubleshooting.
ID: 723101
Texas, USA
Troubleshooting is a particular strength and he ranks himself perhaps in the 95th percentile range of skills in solving problems with progressive die design and production.
He has, in his career in the metal stamping industry, been involved in the stamping of soft aluminum heat sinks and harder forms of aluminum also. These were primarily made in progressive dies in high volume.
He provided technical consulting services in a leading automotive oil filter production plant over a two year period to bring their metal stamping practices up to world class standards. This involved reviewing die design problems and recommending changes and new designs where indicated. It also involved an assessment of the role of poor press condition in excessive die maintenance.
He also assisted in new product development on a limited basis. He assisted in due diligence on the purchase of a joist manufacturing plant in Mexico, assessing HR practices and compliance. He then assisted in the transition period, translating and helping the controller convert from one accounting software system to another. He advised a manufacturer of room air conditioners in moving a manufacturing operation to Mexico and helped them outsource their sheet metal production (formerly made in-house) to new metal stamping vendors. He provided die design and maintenance training to die maintenance and die setup personnel in Spanish to two companies in Mexico using detailed photographs of dies, showing good and bad practices. He analyzed and helped solve technical start-up problems on a complex new consumer product that involved metal stamping expertise in China.

Additional Experience
Expert Witness Experience |
---|
He has served as an expert witness in court on the topic of metal stamping tooling. As an officer in the US Navy many years ago, he attended Naval Justice School to learn to handle courts martial—a practice similar to prosecutorial law. Two years ago he went on an assignment to testify before the High Court of Singapore in a matter regarding a dispute involving the manufacture of stamping presses and dies, or rather the failure to do so. I testified as an expert witness for the plaintiffs and they prevailed. This was not a jury trial, but instead was held before a single judge. Much earlier in his career he testified for the plaintiff in a similar, but much smaller case where a supplier of stampings (metal parts made of sheet metal) failed to deliver a functioning product. He believes the plaintiff won in that case also. |
Training / Seminars |
---|
Over a period of years he developed training in Spanish and English in the area of high production metal stamping tooling. |
Vendor Selection |

Marketing Experience |

He has had a unique combination of formal engineering training and education, followed by many years of intensive hands-on practical experience in making metal stampings and the construction of tooling. This is a combination of skills not commonly found in this industry. His language skills make his skill set even more unique. |
