Heat Exchangers and Pressure Vessels
ID: 733594
Canada
Has been heavily involved in many Western Canada oil and gas projects. A member of the Petro Canada SAGD task force on McKay River heat exchanger problem-solving. Have evaluated once through Steam generators for Esso Cold Lake and Albania tarsands. Considered one of the world’s top heat exchangers and pressure vessel expert. Responsible for design and specification of many heat exchangers and pressure vessels for Syncrude, Suncor, Petro-Canada, Nova Chemicals Worldwide, Chevron-Texaco, IMB Italy, ATB Italy, Borsig Germany, Shell Canada, Husky Upgrader, and numerous others. Has performed heat transfer equipment design (thermal, hydraulic, vibration analysis, and mechanical) for refinery exchangers, including feed effluent exchangers, thermosyphon
reboilers, chillers, gas-gas, sulfur condensers, steam generators, waste heat recovery systems, boilers, natural and forced draft furnaces, WH recovery, and cooling towers. Expert also designs the following types of heat exchangers: shell and tube, air-cooled, multitude
hairpin, plate and frame, brazed aluminum, economizer, and special coolers for sand, fertilizer, and potash.
Conducted several finite element analyses on tube sheets, nozzles, saddles, fire-proofed and insulated beams, piping, and pressure vessels.
Have done many specification writing, mechanical data sheets, bid evaluation, vendor prints, and welding procedure review for the following mechanical equipment: shell and tube exchangers, air-cooled exchangers, process equipment, furnace and pressure
vessels consisting of ASME VIII DIV 1 & 2, towers, columns, reactors, storage bullets, scrubbers, and transport carrier tanks. In addition, he has designed shell and tube heat exchangers for several fabricators in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
Current and recent work involves heat exchangers and pressure vessels for Pembina, Provident and Suncor Energy, Conoco Philips, China, and Emulsion heaters at SAGD plants and certifying ASME VIII Div 1 and Div 2 pressure vessels is ongoing continually.
Expert has over 40 years of pressure vessel design and towers to ASME VIII Div 1 and Div 2. He has certified UDS and MDR for ASME VIII div 2 pressure vessels for Canada, Saudi Aramco, and the U.S. for over 30 years. In addition, he has been a member of ASME for more than 30 decades.
He owns or leases his software for thermal design of shell and tube exchanger (STX, HTRI, HTFS), thermal design of air-cooled exchanger (HTC-ACX), thermal design of forced and natural draft furnace, W.P. Knight heat exchanger programs, and notes (sole authorized owner), the mechanical design of pressure vessels, shell and tube exchangers, towers and columns (PVELITE), pressure drop in piping systems and finite element analysis (ALGOR interactive systems and FEPIPE).
Expert is a licensed professional engineer in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, Canada. He has designed and reviewed many pressure vessels in high-pressure, high-temperature, sour, hydrogen, and low-temperature in many different materials.
Expert has run a pressure vessel and heat transfer consultancy for ~30 years.
