After 4 years of chemical engineering education, he studied in the Department of Glasses, Ceramics and Polymers of Sheffield University, UK where he has obtained M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Following this, he has spent most of his early professional life in the largest glass and ceramic company in his country, having 27 factories and producing nearly all range of glass products except optical glass. After initial 2 years, he was appointed as the chief troubleshooter. Some of his main areas of work were the following.

He would make preparation for major production changes such as tailoring glass batch and composition for a color or composition change in a glass furnace and apply the change in the plant. He would tailor glass composition for a certain machine setting or choose machine setting for a certain glass composition. In all technical cooperation agreements that the company had made, he would take part from contracting to application stages. He would attend to furnace emergencies and also inspect conditions of furnaces after their normal age and based on his findings, make corrections on design of furnaces.

Most important of all, he would be called to solve the technical and production problems of the factories. The procedure was that, if the plant could not solve a specific problem in over one week, they would ask for the help of the central technical department and he would go. He was usually expected to come up with an answer in a matter of few hours. Therefore, he not only has a strong education in glass and ceramic technology, but also has full command of glass raw materials, machinery, furnaces, production techniques and finishing of glass including surface finishing and decoration.

Additionally, he has as a part of the mission he has undertaken for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), he has started mechanized glass container production in the city of Firozabad, India.

As a part of his job, he would attend to furnace emergencies and also inspect conditions of furnaces after their normal age and based on his findings, make corrections on design of furnaces. All but two of the furnaces in the company were regenerative.

Additionally, he has undertaken a long-term mission for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), where he had to convert all glass melting and working operations in the city of Firozabad, India, from coal to natural gas. In the process, he has redesigned all the melting furnaces, (tank and pot) annealing furnaces and even the pot arches.

He has made preparations for major production changes, such as tailoring glass batches, composition for a color or composition change in a glass furnace, and calculating new annealing curves and apply the change in the plant. During his work as consultant, he has worked with a company making furnaces and kilns. Here together with furnace design, he is preparing the temperature profiles for best annealing of the glasses that are processed. He has full knowledge and experience in annealing of nearly all types of glass.

Besides other duties, he would make preparation for major production changes such as tailoring glass batch or composition for a color change in a glass furnace containing 600 tons of glass (flat glass) and apply the change in the plant. He has done such work in a wide range of furnace sizes and glass compositions. Therefore, he is very experienced in glass color tailoring, control and measurement. Some of his main areas of work were R&D management, trouble shooting, information and know-how transfer. At one stage, he was given the job of designing and building a plant that would produce glass beads for reflective road signs, which he designed, built and operated successfully.

As a part of his job, in all technical cooperation agreements that the company had made, he would take part from contracting to application stages. Additionally, he has as a part of the mission he has undertaken for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); he has started mechanized glass container production in the city of Firozabad, India. Therefore, he has worked both in giving and taking side of technology transfer for glass container production.

He has increased production 5 fold and productivity more than 7 fold. In addition to his formal education on Chemical engineering and Ceramic Technology (together with glass), he has spent 7 years in R&D side of the subject with production interaction and an additional 9 years of successful industrial experience.

Since his retirement, he has been working as an International Technical Consultant. In this period, he has been helping many companies and he has designed and constructed one porcelain tableware, one brick and one ceramic roof tile factory outside his own.

Since his retirement, he has been working as an International Technical Consultant. In this period he has been helping many companies and he has designed and constructed one porcelain table ware, one brick factory and one ceramic roof tile factory outside his own country. After the erection, he gives training on all stages of ceramic production. Therefore he has full grasp of ceramic drying, as well as all the other stages of production, from raw material preparation, through forming, glazing, firing and decorating to packaging. He also has a good knowledge of mould making furnace design, kiln furniture and all the auxiliary operations regarding ceramic industry. In most two stage firing operations, products are sintered to a biscuit before glazing and he has used this operation in most cases. Therefore he is in good command of sintering operations.

After retirement, he has been helping many companies and he has designed and constructed one porcelain tableware, one brick factory and one ceramic roof tile factory outside his own country. After the erection, he gives training on all stages of ceramic production. Therefore he has full grasp of operations in a ceramic factory as well as forming. Since slip-casting jiggering has been the major method of forming until dry pressing pressure casting and ram pressing of flatware has come in, he is very familiar with the process. He has tailored recipes for physical properties and color. He Expert measure, compare and calculate color in all glass and ceramic products. He Expert also tailor compositions for glass and ceramic frits for coloring and ceramic color production.

He served for 7 years in the central technical department, where, besides other duties, he would attend to furnace emergencies and also inspect conditions of furnaces after their normal age and based on his findings, make corrections on design of furnaces. Subsequently, he was appointed as Production Manager of the largest porcelain tableware factory of its time, which he has done successfully for 2 years until he was promoted as CEO of the company. Since his retirement from the company, he has been working as International Technical Consultant. In this period he has been helping many companies and he has designed and constructed one porcelain tableware, one brick factory and one ceramic roof tile factory outside his own country. He has done several missions in India with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for converting all the furnaces (pot, batch, regenerative and recuperative continuous, day tank and pot arch) from coal burning to natural gas firing or electrical. He is also working as consultant for the largest company in his country that produces combustion and electrical furnaces for glass, metallurgy and ceramic industry. Therefore he is well acquainted with electric and combustion furnaces for the glass and ceramic industry.

From 1975 to 1982, he has worked as the chief trouble shooter in the glass and porcelain production company having 27 factories. If the technical personnel of the plants could not solve a major problem within 1 week, they would refer to the central research department and he would be sent to the site. Usually it took him 1 hour to 1 day to solve the problem and offer a remedy.During his work as CEO of the biggest porcelain tableware company of the country, he was offered the position of Vice president of the Gebze research Center of Turkish Research Council. His main duty was to increase the interaction between the industry and the center. During the first year of service, he has increased the income of the center from industry 65 fold. (6500%)He has worked as a consultant to the Presidency of Turkmenistan where he has constructed a Porcelain tableware plant and a ceramic roof tile plant. After the plants went into production, he was offered the position of CEO of the porcelain company. He accepted this position and done it for 5 years. In one consulting mission for UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) he vas sent to the city of Firozabad where 137 plants were producing and operating on glass articles. The only source of energy was coal. The pollution from the city was endangering the historical sites in the nearby cities. In a period of 2 years, he has designed new furnaces, pot arches annealing muffles and other fuel consuming equipment, built, installed and operated them. After 4 years, the whole are was converted to natural gas firing. He was sent to Eritrea on a UNIDO mission to investigate and evaluate non metallic mineral reserves of the country.

In a 3 week mission, he has visited government offices, research centers, potential mineral sites and has found glass sand and potassium feldspar fields. He has designed a laboratory for their evaluation. He has visited marble and granite fields and the only stone processing plant of the country. He has prepared operating programs and preferred product lists.
