Expert was board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery in 1990 and remain board certified in American Board of Surgery, recertified again in 2008. His surgical experiences include general surgery and laparoscopic surgery services involving the hernia, gallbladder, gastro-intestinal, thyroid, pancreas, skin lesions and other conditions. He has also performed colon and rectal surgery as well as provided treatment of other surgical conditions. He is also familiar with surgical oncology procedures involving skin cancer, breast cancer, stomach and intestinal cancer, colon cancer and other cancers.

He completed his residency in General surgery and a research fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several other nationally known associations. He has extensive experience in gastrointestinal surgery, cancer surgery, and laparoscopic surgery and is currently an active staff member of six different hospitals in his state. He is a member of several quality care groups, and maintains an active association in hospital cancer committees as an American College of Surgeons Cancer Liaison Physician. He has worked with his state's committees to review medical quality of care issues, and quality of cancer care and breast and cervical cancer issues for the medically underserved. He also owns his own private practice that specializes in the care of patients with conditions requiring surgical evaluation or treatment with a special interests in the surgical treatment of cancer, gastrointestinal problems, endocrine disorders, and many other surgical conditions.

His publications and professional presentations have included topics in the field of gastroenterology and general surgery. His research experience have included investigating the canine ileostomy and ileum as well as how volatile fatty acids stimulate ileal peristalsis, cholelithiasis and cholecystitis in children and adolescents.
