Request Expert

Expert is an accomplished chemist and innovation leader with over three decades of global research and development experience in the consumer goods and academic sectors. Based in Rome, he earned his Laurea (MSc) in Chemistry summa cum laude from La Sapienza University of Rome. He began his career in scientific research with post-graduate fellowships at Daresbury Laboratories and Queen’s University of Belfast in the UK, before entering the industry as a Technical Brand Manager for Laundry Detergents at Procter & Gamble (P&G).

Over a 32-year career at P&G, Expert rose through the ranks to become a Senior Director Research Fellow, leading international innovation programs in the Fabric & Home Care divisions across R&D hubs in Rome, Pescara, Pomezia, and Brussels. He led the development of advanced technologies in oxidation chemistry, surface science, surfactants, polymers, and formulation science, contributing to product innovations in laundry, dishwashing, air care, and hair and oral care. Expert led collaborative projects with multinationals and SMEs and played a pivotal role in EU-funded R&D initiatives aimed at exploring biomimicry, green chemistry, and functional materials.

A highly accomplished inventor and scientific contributor, Expert holds over 200 international patents and has published extensively, with more than 3,000 citations and an h-index of 30. He has delivered invited lectures and seminars at leading institutions across Europe, sharing his insights in polymer chemistry, sustainable materials, emulsions, intellectual property, and multidisciplinary innovation. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for various scientific journals and is a recognized member of scientific bodies such as the European Technology Council of P&G and Italy’s Accademia di Storia dell’Arte Sanitaria.

Since leaving P&G in 2020, Expert has transitioned into academia, bringing industry insight to future generations of scientists. He serves as Adjunct Professor of Physical Chemistry for Industry and Product Design in the Pharma and Cosmetic Industry at Employer. He also directs the Grand Challenges Scholars Program, a U.S. National Academy of Engineering-backed initiative focused on multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial, and socially conscious education. Additionally, he contributes as a Visiting Research Fellow at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics of Estonia.
