Responsibilities:help organizations to: convert corporate vision into actionable strategy, functional excellence in innovation, boost profitability by reducing operating costs and enhance organization and people capability. Some of the selected projects completed are as follows:Selected Projects: Business Case - Entry into new category One of the leading Pakistani groups who have strong presence in the chemicals manufacturing and marketing in B2B arrangement with large MNC’s. As part of their business diversification strategy, assigned the task for the preparation of a techno-economic business feasibility study for setting up laundry detergent powder as a Greenfield operation. The business case has been prepared and submitted to the client with business entry recommendations. Brand Acquisition A large Pakistani FMCG group with an annual turnover of USD 20 million in the personal care category with a renowned brand has decided to double the business through diversification into new business categories via business or brand acquisitions. The task for the consultants was to identify the brand and perform the due diligence including valuation for bidding. The client was shortlisted in the final bidding process, however, the bid amount was not the highest compared to others and client opted not to raise their bid. Business Diversification A large diversified Pakistani group of businesses with operations in five countries. The group currently operates in the hosiery manufacturing with a total turnover of US$ 300 million. As part of their business diversification strategy, the company plans to enter into the edible oils sector in Pakistan. Was tasked to prepare a detailed techno-economic business feasibility study and support the group in the execution of the recommended business plans. The business feasibility and execution plan has been presented to the the board and accepted. The execution is being performed with planned product launch by end of 2018. Market Entry into Pakistan One of the major producers of home & personal care brands in South Africa with an annual turnover of USD 100 million has significant presence in wide range of products including: laundry powder, fabric conditioner, bleach, dishwashing liquid and toilet soap. The client expressed an interest in setting-up a toilet soap business in Pakistan. The task for the consultant was to prepare a business entry strategy and a techno-economic feasibility for setting up the manufacturing operations in Pakistan. Recommendation to the client was NOT to enter the toilet soap category in Pakistan because of the higher import duties on finished products and the unfavorable customs valuations in practice in Pakistan. The option of setting up their own manufacturing facility was feasible provided the client was willing to set-up a company in Pakistan and ensures the presence of at least one of their directors in Pakistan. This option was parked for the time being as they would be unable to spare one of their directors due to their current business expansion activities in South Africa. New Business Acquisition A large Pakistani group with a strong presence in the cement sector with an annual turnover of USD 50 million had decided in principle to explore the possibility of acquiring a running woven-polypropylene bag manufacturing business as part of their diversification plan. The targeted business has a strong reputation in the market with a large client base and an annual turnover of USD 6 million. The task for the consultants was to evaluate the technical and commercial aspects of the existing operations, give a valuation for the company and recommend options for further product line additions within the existing manufacturing set-up. The client has made an offer to the target company based on our evaluation. The offer price has been accepted in principle and both companies are now in the process of finalising the legal and financial terms of the acquisition. Project Management - New Plant Setup The client was setting up a chemical manufacturing facility at greenfield site with an investment of over US$6.0M. Provided overall project management support and completed all activities within agreed time and allocated budget. The surfactants manufacturing facility offered self-sufficiency in local production and reduced the dependency on imported product. Manufacturing - Product Localization A client liked to explore options for toll manufacturing of their personal care products to bring cost reduction and flexibility to their growing products, which were launched via import from Europe. A range of toll manufacturing options was evaluated as per the client’s compliance and quality criteria and helped the selected vendor to gear-up with all the requirements. The products were successfully localized on time and met the client’s business objectives. New Product Development (R&D) - Home & Personal Care New products developed for various clients as per their respective projects brief. Products benchmarked against key competitors and managed the end-to-end product development process. The new formulations were developed as per client’s brief and met the benchmark criteria for cost and functional deliverables. Quality Systems Excellence One large client in UAE had serious issues in benchmarking quality against competitors. The issues were resolved by introducing Quality Excellence Program and provided on ground support to relevant operations team in the determination of quality demerits and setting up key performance indicators. Training workshops were organised and helped the teams to identify the demerits and reduce by application of problem solving techniques taught in the training sessions. The delivered quality has significantly improved with quality demerits reduction by 25%. Margin Improvement – Cost Saving The client wanted a program which enable their teams to identify cost saving ideas and execution to improve the bottom line margins. Mapped the strategy for value improvement program and organised workshops. All relevant personnel were trained to systematically identify cost saving projects across manufacturing and supply chain. Cost saving projects worth over 2% of turnover were shortlisted and supported the teams in the execution process. |
