Expert has developed training programs to improve health. These have been developed for (1) healthy people, (2) those with various health problems (heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity), and (3) the elderly. He has done much research on training programs as well as their effects on the body and on health. He has also been involved in a major research study on the influence of genetic factors on one's health and how a person reacts acutely to exercise and chronically to training.
Expert is highly knowledgeable about various aspects of kinesiology, particularly as it relates to exercise, physical education, physical training, and health. As a professor in several universities in the US and Canada, he has done research on and written extensively about kinesiology -- the study of how the body moves and what the effects of those movements are.
Expert has studied various components of physical fitness (strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, etc.), especially as they relate to performance, health, and aging.
He worked with a health-related company (Living Systems) and assisted them in applying for and receiving 2 patents and 5 research grants from the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program at the National Institutes of Health. He has also helped them collect and analyze data for new prototypes and grant applications. The research mainly involved a three-dimensional accelerometer for measuring 1) speed of walking and running, 2) gait characteristics, and 3) posture. He has worked with a large exercise equipment company (Life Fitness) to advise them on new products, scientific aspects of what is new, what is needed, etc. This company has sponsored his lectures to healthcare professionals on various aspects of exercise and health. He has worked with an exercise equipment company (bioDensity) that is involved with strength training and whole-body vibration. He has helped to analyze their data and to publish articles on their equipment and its use, as well as to plan studies to determine its effects on strength, bone density, and health. He planned and conducted research of bioDensity and/or whole-body vibration on strength, balance, and functional independence of adults 65 to 90 years old. He has consulted with a major international food company (Mars, Inc.). They have sponsored his lectures in several countries in Europe (France, Spain, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, and Germany) on various aspects of health, nutrition, exercise, and fitness. He has worked with a company that has the franchise to conduct workshops outside of North America leading to certification of personal trainers, fitness instructors, and other health-related professionals by the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition, he co-directed a two-day workshop on Exercise Prescription for Special Populations for physicians and physiotherapists in several countries.
