Engineering, Staff Software, and Google Information Security
ID: 739739
Indiana, USA
While at Google, Expert was responsible for managing a team of engineers conducting security research and developing mitigations on Google’s most critical infrastructure. While in this role, he found and fixed hundreds of “root-in-prod” vulnerabilities (Google’s most severe class). Additionally, Expert worked for Google X Labs, where he wrote robotics software, wrote and optimized systems for solving particular NP-complete scheduling problems, and led his team to build an intuitive graph model for expressing and transforming said problems.
Before this role, Expert was a Software Engineer with Google, where he was one of two developers to create "YouTube Blur Faces," a privacy tool that allows creators to easily blur faces in videos they upload. He built and distributed the processing pipeline that analyzes videos using facial similarity and pixel motion data to match faces between frames.
Expert also founded a company in January 2023 with the goal of building a better terminal for teams and developers. The mission was to enable clients and users to access their computers from anywhere, collaborate seamlessly with multiple users in real time, and enjoy advanced features like visual autocomplete and AI integration -- all in browser. It was funded by a Y Combinator, and Expert sold his stake in June 2023.
