Expert has an extensive background in starting, growing and managing successful global high tech companies over a thirty-year period for IBM, Gould, Silicon Graphics, and others. He has had direct P&L responsibilities with both public and private companies and is best known for his analytical and creative management strategies. He has founded four high tech companies and turned around three. Expert has bought and/or sold 20 companies and has raised over $250 million in capital for his companies in the U.S., Asia and the EU. Has been active in China and Asia for over 30 years and has an extensive network of high-level government and industry contacts in the region. He is a global dealmaker with significant operating experience in a variety of high tech industries including life sciences, military, software, high performance computing, Internet security and control systems. He was recently a management consultant for Saronyx Inc., a life sciences company which provides software and services to manage the drug development process from pre-clinical animal studies through phases I, II and III human clinical trials. Expert has developed a management team for Saronyx, raised a financing round and established software quality standards necessary for the company to become a leader in the drug development workflow market. Most recently he was Chairman of Greater China for Silicon Graphics based in China. He reorganized SGI’s operations across Greater China, India and the Asia Pacific. SGI’s China operation was a troubled business unit when he arrived. He left an organization that was profitable and growing by 50% a year and received the SGI Asia Pacific Hero award. He was COO of a public company, MSC Software (NYSE: MNS), that attained revenue of $300 million, with 1500 employees and 14% profit after tax. Expert grew MSC from a starting run rate of $60 million with the successful acquisition of four companies including a $40 million public company. He also turned around a 500 employee heavy manufacturing division of Gould growing the business by over 200% and selling the company after winning a $50 million contract for the MX missile and a $60 million contract for the Trident program. Expert has extensive manufacturing experience and is a founder and member of the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences. His manufacturing experience encompasses both discreet and process manufacturing industries. A chemical engineer, expert has a strong background in control systems beginning with IBM where he worked for several years in various technical, sales and marketing roles in IBM’s real time control systems and main frame IT systems market. He has run substantial manufacturing companies and has founded several companies that provided advanced manufacturing technology to the global manufacturing market. One of his start-ups, Maxitron won the $10 million General Motors Factory of the Future contract before the Maxitron had released it’s first product. As CEO of his company, a leader in military systems engineering technology with a declining defense market, expert created a totally new market for the company through exclusive contracts with Marsh and McLennan and AIG to use the companies' systems engineering technology to quantify the risks of a business interruption of Global 1000 companies.
