Wisconsin, USA
Expert's career of over 35 years has been primarily dedicated to transportation electrification, primarily automotive (also off road, commercial vehicles, and aerospace). He has worked on many elements of the vehicle, from powertrain (for electric and hybrid-electric motors) to valvetrains, electric brakes and steering, fuel pumps, and sensors. In so doing, he acquired a unique and broad view of automotive electrification, including but not limited to hybrid and electric vehicles.
Expert, an engineer with background at General Motors, Delphi, and Eaton, all in the design and application of electromagnetic and electro-mechanical systems, particularly for transportation, is offering his vast expertise to facilitate the advancement of electrical technology. His focus is both on technology development and patent services.
His business venture offers consulting services based on 30 years of experience in magnetics, electric machine design, linear actuators and automotive electrification. It can provide your company with analysis, design and prototyping of electromagnetic systems, electric machines and drives. A particular strength of this consulting business is new technology development, assessment, and investigation, as well as intellectual property preparation and defense. It can team with you for technology road-mapping and strategizing in the application of electric energy conversion, particularly in the transportation field, and the integration of electric and mechanical systems.

Additional Experience
Expert Witness Experience |
---|
In January 2016, Expert was retained by the US Patent and Trademarks Office as an expert witness. The plaintiff was appealing the US PTO’s rejection of their patent application, and the case was heard in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. His involvement included writing an expert report; being deposed (March 2016); writing a supplemental report; and, testifying in court (May 2016). The technology at issue was electric motor controls for machine tools. The plaintiff won the case. In mid 2016 and again in March 2017, Expert was involved in the preparation for four Inter Partes Reviews before the US PTO Patent Trial and Review Board, writing declarations in support of the patent owner’s preliminary responses. The cases are about glow-plug controls for diesel engines (AM General, LLC vs. UUSI). He was working for the defendant, UUSI. Three of the four cases were instituted. he was deposed on June 1st, 2017. The case was settled. More recently (late 2017), expert was retained by a firm representing an automotive Tier 1 supplier for a patent infringement lawsuit about electric motors used in cars. |
